Which ball?

Going to replace my balls this season (Pro v1). Don’t mind keeping brand and model, but I’m running out and some are getting older. So I figured I’d try something new.

 

About me:

 

- 42y, 5’11, 163lbs, athletic

- 8HCP (previous 4 but playing less), with more spare time expect to improve

- Swing speed driver 105mph, might be a tad higher thanks to new training regime

- High launch, tendency to draw, but generally quite straight

- I have good stopping power, not an issue

- 55-60% fairways hit, 45-50% GiR, and scramble an abysmal below 30%

- 7 iron max length 165 yards, rather slow down and keep below 160

- Driver carry 250-270, not much roll due to my high launch

- No issue launching and landing long irons

- I play in Sweden, so rather soft and wet conditions

 

Been looking in to the new Bridgestone balls. Always been a Titleist guy. Not unhappy at all, just wanted to try something new and maybe gain a few yards on my irons.

 

Can not decide, please help.

Did you read thru the extensive ball test on Not allowed because of spam? tons of data there.

If not ProV1, I'd suggest you look at Bridgestone Tour BX or Tour BXS.

I'd maybe look at the Srixon Z-Star ball especially if coming from the ProV1.

New TP5x should give you the extra iron yards. Cost you a little spin but you said that's not a concern.

Thanks all. Had a look and seems that Bridgestone Tour B it is. Good balance of distance, spin and consistency.

 

I don’t expect any major changes in my score, but change is fun :)

The prov1 is a fantastic ball. I wouldn't change unless it's not perforning for you. If you just want to switch it up slightly, the Srixon z star and bridgestone BXS feel most like the ProV1. Not sure about getting Snell in Sweden, but the MTB Black feels and performs great as well. The 'x' balls from all companies will feel clickier than the ProV1. But some people prefer that feedback and find that it improves the short game. So, for something new, maybe try prov1x or srixon z star xv.

I'd suggest trying the 2 balls I currently am deciding between. We have similar swing speeds and I also am a high launch player. I have been comparing the Titleist AVX and the Bridgestone Tour B X. If I had to choose a winner for me it'd be the Bridgestone but realistically I'll play either one depending on which one I can get the better deal on.

Absolutely try the Bridgestone Tour B X or XS. I love the Pro V1. It is the ball I compare everything against and these two balls are the only ones I play instead of the Pro V.

I was playing AVX... crazy long for me because I needed a spin killer. But made my gaps in the middle of the bag a bit funny, and thing is just not a true tour ball around the green. Spins fine in full wedges, but not so much on chips/pitches.

 

The Tour BX is infinitely better around the green, and just as low spin off driver. I’m getting a tad more carry and about the same totals off driver.

 

The BX is a much better ball if I value the spin around the green.
