Stevens Park in Dallas

Anyone played this course recently? I am playing it for the first time this Sunday. I just noticed a review on yelp that said the course is in terrible shape and the greens are the worst you’ll ever see them.

Played Stevens last Thursday. Very wet after Wednesdays rain and I expect the same with the weather that's coming this week. Yes, the greens are bad, but they did not stop my buddy from shooting a 38 on the back ! Overall the course is not in that bad of shape if you can look past the greens . Hey, it's Stevens Park, I'd play it in the snow.

I’m glad you mentioned the rain. Besides today it’s been pretty dry where I am. The True Knits I’ve been wearing do not work well in wet conditions.

With the greens in bad shape, is Steven's Park still worth a stop? I'm coming in with a group this week and our first round was going to be here on Thursday afternoon. Is there something else we should consider between the airport and downtown as a replacement?

Can’t speak to current conditions but- Texas rangers, Texas star (slightly opposite direction), waterchase, Tierra verde are all good choices.

I'm not sure you will avoid any courses in the area that won't be soaked this week. Big rain Tues thru Thurs morning.

Played Steven's today and it is true, the greens are gone. I'm hoping for the sake of the course that they aren't completely lost. That said, we had a good time playing the course. Great, unique layout and although it was little wet in spots, the rest of the course played great. Too bad about the greens, but I will be back in the future to check this place out again.

We decided cancel and play Heritage Ranch on Sunday. I’ll try Stevens another time. Avoid Champions Circle too. My friend is a member and since I’m in town all weekend I decided to play there today. Greens are probably the worst I’ve ever seen and I’ve played on a few goat tracks out in west Texas.

Until it warms up most courses will be rampant with poa Anna. That’s all it is.

Wow, they are going to resurface the greens and only be shut down 2 months!

Wish the public courses here in Austin would have this type of accountability. Here, they'll just keep taking your $50 for awful conditions, Greyrock lost all of its greens 5 weeks ago with 3 still not playable and they just hosted the UIL tourney.

Played it in 2015 when we took our annual golfers weekend that year in the Dallas/Arlington area, along with Texas Star and Tierra Verde, we were impressed by all three courses but I really enjoyed Stevens Park. Lot of great holes and layout of this classic course. Hope the renovation goes well, this is a gem of a course.

I got that same email and was wondering why they were working on the greens and tee boxes, but they sent a picture of the fairway, ha-ha.

Went out last Saturday in the blistering heat. Greens aren't bad. Not super fast but pristine as expected from only 1 day of play. Course conditions were great. But expect slow play all around. My 2some ended up around 4hr45 min because of a log jam around the 12th hole. The iconic 18th tee box is now missing the tree on the left because of last months storms.

it's unique to Stevens. Plus, you get that extra space in the corners when trying to get that GIR lol

keeps costs down because they use an automatic, laser-sighted, mower. No manpower hours.... just Google: RG3 Cub Cadet Turf
