Lowest spin long iron shaft

Looking to get a low spin shaft for my 2/3 iron, my ss is about 105-108 with driver, any recommendations? Light weight steel or a good graphite?

Yea these are too heavy for my SS.

Someone with more clubmaking experience can chime in, but there are quite a few Diamana D+ 80-90g hybrid shafts on Ebay which will be .370 or .355 i guess. I assume your iron is one of those, you could probably make that work and it would definitely be low launching. And they are like 50-60$ from some sellers

I'm using the P790 UDI 2-iron with the stock ProjectX HZRDUS stiff shaft. My driver speed is 113 and I played for the first time yesterday with the new UDI and was averaging 255 yards, even with a very wet course from post rain. I forget my exact spin rate when I tested the iron but it was low. No complaints about the shaft, check it out.

If you can find one, I'd suggest the Aldila NV 105 iron shaft, not going to get much lower launch than that. Otherwise, the steelfiber i95 is another good option.

 

Just realize, you can only get help with he launch/spin from the shaft if you have a late enough release for your particular swing speed. And even then the change is likely to be small. If you really want to lower launch/spin, tweaking the loft of the head is always going to be more reliable way to control launch/spin than trying to control trajectory with the shaft profile. Then you are free to pick a shaft that's a good fit for your particular preferences for shaft feel.

I use a Rip Alpha 85x in my hybrid and driving iron and absolutely love them. Lowest spinning I have hit for sure

Thanks for everyone who contributed. ended up installing the pro orange 80tx to keep everything in line with my driver and 3w. what a shaft! happy with the numbers and no problem transitioning from woods to long iron. Thinking to get 90tx for my 3 iron :p

How about picking up a RIP Tour Iron shaft off the bay or something. I hear they are incredibly stiff and low spin. They have a 115 option as well. If you want steel, the lowest spinning suspects are typically the project X, C-Taper, and DG in stiffer flexes, but these are all in the 125-130g range. I hear the new DG 120g has the same launch characteristics as the originals, but haven't tried them.

I stuck one of the blue Project X 90g hybrid shafts in my 2 iron. Works fantastic and you can pick them up for around $20

I’d second this and JT knows his shafts. I play the PW 90 and love it!
