SuperStroke Traxion grips don't like grip solvent

I just had put in my Spider X a black SuperStroke Traxion Flatso 2.0 and there was some grip solvent left on the corner of the grip by the installer, it broke some sort of surface and is now it look like someone poured acid on it, like grey matt worn out, looks really whack. It also of course is in the part that is always visible when I grip the club. I tried rubbing it off with a wet towel but it just starts to break the surface and of course it's WHITE beneath the black surface so now it looks also broken...

 

Just when I thought SuperStroke finally made a putter grip that wont look dirty in 2 months of use.. Designed wear is something they sure shine at!

 

So heads up to all who are installing a Traxion grip, don't get that stuff on the grip, it will destroy the surface.

I'd be interested to know which make of solvent was used? We are selling these grips hand over fist!

Solvent is exactly that - solvent. Leave it on something for long enough without it being able to evaporate quickly and it will not go well. Take any rubber grip and leave it in solvent and it will bloat like a beached whale and then break down.

 

Superstroke grips and similar grips (Winn) with the same composition absorb solvent very easily if you get it on the surfaces. If not washed off, it will not end well.

Rather than blaming Super Storke, why don't you take it back to the installer and have them make it right. Ask them what solvent they have used and where did that grip come from. And ask why there was so much excess solvent after the install. I have never had an issue with SS Putter grips and solvent.

Sounds more like an installer problem than a SS problem. This is why I do my own grips. It can be a pain if you are not in the mood, but really it is pretty easy and anyone can do it.

Yeah installer fault, just a heads up for everyone..

I would take it back but I have a feeling it wont be a big enough defect to warrant them to replace the grip with a new one.

I would also do my own grips if I had a stations to do it.
