I demo'd the 565's a while back. Thought they were great, and would have definitely considered them if I was looking for a set at the time.

I just got fit for z585 in March. I'm a 9 though (ball striking is ok, getting better after the last couple lessons) so not exactly what you're looking for I don't think, but i'd be happy to share my opinion if you want it. I do remember reading a thread when I was researching irons about 585/785 combo sets and a 2 handicap wished he'd gone all 585.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts... especially on spin... The 765 apparently are super low spin, and that interests me greatly.

My trackman 7-iron numbers wth the z585 were 5555 spin, 48* land angle, and 95 ft height with 9 yards of rollout. BUT, that was with the standard loft z585 7-iron (31*). I ordered my set 2 degrees weak at the recommendation of the fitter. I have not been on Trackman with them but I am **not** seeing massive rollouts on the course.

The runner-up iron was the PING i210, and I was getting another 500 rpm's with their standard lofted 7-iron, which is 33*, so I suspect if I tested apples to apples it would be pretty similar for me.

Shaft was the PX LZ 6.0

I'm a 3.5 or so, and love the 545s. I'm a solid ball striker, and my best was 16 greens with them last year. Theres really nothing they cant do. If you are at all steep then the Vsole really is special. I play up to the 5 iron, and then a 4 driving iron, and swap a 3 hybrid in most times. The 585s look really nice..

I'm around a 4 and have been gaming the 545s since they came out a few years ago. I haven't found any irons that I like more and I don't care for the more rounded look of the subsequent series (565/585). In fact I like them so much I just bought another set as a backup. This new set came with a 3 iron that I've been messing with and I found to be just as easy to hit as the 4 (which is my favorite iron in the bag).

Don't think I'll be changing anytime soon!

The only thing I would like to see is the Vsole extended into the utility irons. Not sure why they dont. It's not like you dont need good turf interaction with the longest irons in the bag.

I’ve had the 585 NS Pro 950 GH 5-PW for the past few months. This combo has been fantastic for me, especially after going through so many irons over the past few years. I was fit multiple times and have played I200, AP2 16 and 900 F with different shafts. I finally figured out that that lighter shafts work better for me and the lighter mid launch shaft with stronger lofts is a great combo. I tend to spin the ball due to my attack angle (digger) and the v-sole works for me.

I tend to shoot in the mid to high seventies. Short game is my weakness.

My pro carries his driver about 290 yards, and opted for the Z585 iron model. (He does carry an old Nike reshafted 3i as his clearout club). He says he doesn't get anything out of the Z785s he can't get out of the Z585s.

What's In The Bag (As of April 2023, post-MAX change + new putter)

Driver:  Tour Edge EXS 10.5° (base loft); weights neutral   ||  FWs:  Calla Rogue 4W + 7W

Hybrid:  Calla Big Bertha OS 4H at 22°  ||  Irons:  Calla Mavrik MAX 5i-PW

Wedges*:  Calla MD3: 48°... MD4: 54°, 58° ||  PutterΨSeeMore FGP + SuperStroke 1.0PT, 33" shaft

Ball: 1. Srixon Q-Star Tour / 2. Calla SuperHot (Orange preferred)  ||  Bag: Sun Mountain Three 5 stand bag

    * MD4 54°/10 S-Grind replaced MD3 54°/12 W-Grind.

     Ψ  Backups:

  • Ping Sigma G Tyne (face-balanced) + Evnroll Gravity Grip |
  • Slotline Inertial SL-583F w/ SuperStroke 2.MidSlim (50 gr. weight removed) |

I play of 2 and the best part of my game is my ball striking with the irons and I play the 565 in 4-7 irons and then 765 in 8-PW. At address they do look a bit big for my eye, but once you hit the ball it is like butter and I can live with the head size looking a bit big. Going into my third season with them and looking to switching to the new model next year.

I have seen on many occasions no where near the roll out that data is showing after a launch monitor session. You seeing 9 yards of roll out on a 7 iron is a boat load.

Only thing I disliked about the 545 was the badges in the back came loose on 2 irons. That was after a few years though.

Actually the only other minor complaint was they were hard to match with wedges gapping wise. I had the 545 AW and a 25 yard gap to a Cleveland SW at 54 degrees.

Don’t have that problem with the 765/965 set I play now

Yea I don't know how to explain it. I don't know if the extra 2 degrees of loft I ordered is the main reason or something else, but in real life I am getting far less, maybe a yard or 2.

I'm a 7 and play 585 4-aw. i contemplated going combo set with 785 but i didnt think i was really missing anything by going all 585. i think the 585 feel just as good as the 785.

I play the 585 in 4-5, 785 in 6-8 and zforged in 9-p. These are by far the best feeling irons I’ve ever hit! The 585 in the long irons are fabulous and absolute rockets for using off the tee. I really think you could play the zforged all they way through the set, honestly don’t think there’s much difference in forgiveness throughout my set. Srixon is one of the most underrated iron sets going!
