I have a 45-degree Vokey and a 45-degree P790. I don't notice much of a distance variation between the two of them, so I'm currently playing the Vokey for its versatility. I have Vokeys in 45-50-54-60 and P790 in 4i-9i. I do have a slightly bigger gap between my PW and my 9I, but it's just a few yards larger than my other gaps. It's not a big deal.

I don't find that the "hot face" is as pronounced in the higher-lofted P790s. I think the gapping issues, if any, on that end of the bag are more a function of loft. Long story short, I don't have any problem going from P790 9-iron to Vokey PW, and I think it would work for you to go from P790 PW to the Wilson gap wedge.

Stock PW 135. I choke up and hit my PW basically 120-135. Probably one of the best shots in my bag. 50 degree goes around 115 full. 54 105 58 90

This is a great question. I am currently struggling with the same issue. Over the last two years, I have played the P790 up through the PW, then added three Vokeys at 50/54/58 (but all bent 1 degree strong).

This issue is that, according to Arccos, I have the following distances:

PW: 116

50, bent to 49: 89

54, bent to 53: 72

58, bent to 57: 63

So I have almost 30 yards between my PW and my 50 degree . . . and I suck at gripping up on the club to shorten the flight. I am considering adding a either a p790 Gap wedge or a 45 degree Vokey (maybe at 100 yards?) and dropping another club somewhere.

When I was gaming the 790's I went PW then 52,56, 60 and never seemed to have an issue with gapping.

Don't have the 790s but my G20 PW is 44. Had 50, 56, & 64 and was constantly getting "stuck" at yardages between my PW and 50 917 yard gap 105/122) and between the 50 and 56 (about 105/85) and I hate taking something off the stronger club and/or muscling up on the weaker club (probably because I'm not very good with it LOL).

So recently I've taken out my 4 hybrid and gotten my wedges to PW, 48, 52, 56, & 64 to even out the gaps and so far it's been very successful.

... I have always played 6* gaps with my wedges. Mine used to be 48-54-60 but I weakened my 5-pw P790's 1* so now I have 46-52-58. Works great for me.

But your PW is also 46 degrees now - so you carry two clubs at 46 degrees (PW and your Gap Wedge), correct?

Or do you only carry two wedges - 52 and 58?

ETA: Never mind - just read your sig line.

For my P790 (and my JPX919F) sets, its nice as I stick with the same wedges for both bags. I go Mizuno S18 50 and S18 56 and really all of my yardage's and shot types are covered.

> How do you guys use a 58 for flop shots or out of the bunker?

I have an old Ping M/B 58* wedge and it is very good out of the sand and the way the heel grind is you can lay it open for flops. The newer Ping Glide wedges will do this and I looked at a TM Hi-Toe wedge in 58* the other day which looked like it would work for that as well. The bounce is the key for sand and there are some 58s that come with good bounce for the sand.

P790 - PW

Vokey SM6 - 50

Vokey SM6 - 55

Vokey SM6 - 60

My stock PW is about 135 yards and I play a very consistent 3/4 PW that goes 125 which fits nicely with a full 50 degree going 120 yards.
