Cobra SmartPad versus other manufacturers

So I've read that Cobra's SmartPad adapter keeps the face square regardless if you add or subtract loft. Can anyone confirm if it really doesn't change face angle when changing loft? With all other manufacturer's hosel adjustment adapters, if you change loft it will change the face angle.

Cobra's MyFly 8 adapter still changes face angle- any single cog adapter will. The SmartPad sole seems to compensate for the different settings pretty well and allows some ground contact with a square appearing face. That said, I had an F6 driver that i played at 11.5 but didn't care for the way the club appeared at address. It looked much more conventional to me at the 9.5 and 10.5 loft settings. I don't have any experience with the draw settings or 9 or 12 lofts.

Imo, it works better than some other manufacturers, but it’s not a perfect fix like I’ve seen some claim. It changed lie angle more than anything if I remember correctly, and additionally I’ve had issues with any cobra fairway I tried to loft up.

I don't see how it could make any difference on grass. Probably does on a hard surface

It still makes a difference. Uneven turf will make it less useful, obviously.

 

As VNutz says just before you, it's better than most, but it doesn't completely erase the face angle effects at the extreme ends of the adapter/loft options for a given club.

 

The old R11/R11S/R1 sole "thingy" appears to do the job, but lot of folks don't care for it. :)

I agree those r11, r11s and R1 were the best for dialing in loft and face angle.
