Tell me about the PXG Gunboat!

Not much on the forums in regards to performance and feel of the PXG Gunboat putter. Really like to hear some feedback from current and former users. Thanks in advance!

I've been using the Gunboat H since they came out. By far the most balanced putter I have ever had / used. And I played a Scotty for several years as well as the Guerrin Rife 2-Bar ( which is my 2nd favorite ). Don't see the Gunboat leaving the bag ever.

I've been playing the Gunboat H for the last 2 weeks. The only noteworthy aspect I can mention is that the face does not feel as "springy" as my Scotty mallets and requires more of a hit. Also, it's more of a muted click sound off the face. I'm going to give it a solid chance because being a mid-toe hang putter I can get away with more of a blade style arcing stroke but with a mallet head.

I don’t own one but I did putt with a gunboat h at my local shop for about an hour. It felt really nice, off the head and very balanced. I liked the visual look to it as well. I was torn for awhile, should I buy it, should I pass. Ultimately decided to pass and I knew I would regret it. Sure enough I went back the next day to buy it and it was gone. It was marked down to $199.99 and I’ve regreted it ever since. I’m such a dumb***.

I did a driver fitting today at PXG and was able to do a 30 minute putter fitting too. The Gen2 Gunboat Single Bend and it was amazing. I tried a couple different models, but I kept just making everything with the Gunboat. My fitter got it right for me and the Gunboat will be getting purchased from him very soon.

 

By the way, I loved the feel of the Gen2 over the Gen1. It out such a nice roll on it and had very consistent distance control (when I missed) lol.

I have a gen 2 mini gunboat h on order. Tracking says it will be delivered this week. I'll post my thoughts once I play it next weekend

Does gen2 feel better too? Is it softer? I did not love the feel of gen1

Being a completely milled putter it just feels solid. I was using Prov1 balls and I would not say it felt soft, would say solid. I loved the feel. Been a Spider guy FOREVER and so liked the Gen2 feel much better. BTW, didn’t feel like Scotty Select putter, maybe more in line with a Bettinardi.... maybe stretching it a little.
