Garmin g80 vs skycaddie sx500

I have searched and haven’t found much, but has anyone compared it used both the Garmin g80 vs the sky caddie sx500

I haven’t used the Garmin, but I own the Skycaddie. I have no complaints and upgrading from the SGX, the 500 is awesome. I love the size and the ability to use the touchscreen. I think the biggest gripe about Skycaddie is the membership requirements. The way I look at is if I can drop $400+ on the unit, $59.00 for a two year membership is a drop in a bucket. It is pretty accurate when I compare measurements to my rangefinder, plus my golf course was completely mapped, so I get to enjoy the whole thing. They also released a case for it.

I can't comment on the Garmin unit but I just played my first round with the SX500 and I love it. Came from SGX and impressed by the improvements. Great unit IMO

I think you would enjoy the Skycaddie. Another thing I like is the Skycaddie360. I can keep stats from putts per round to driving distances. It also measures your stats against the rest of the 360 community, it is pretty cool.

I've been using the SX500 for a few weeks now and it has been great. I have not used the g80, but I read the other thread dedicated to it. After reading the comments and looking at the screen shots, I can't see the g80 coming close to the sx500. It sounds like scoring/stats is pretty basic on the g80 and the display is far behind the sx500. The only reason I could see someone wanting the g80 is for the launch monitor data, which also seems to have its limitations. I was really shocked to read the comments on the other thread about the scoring system on the g80. It seems too simple to develop useful scoring/stat tracking system to have it be so limited. The sx500 scoring is easy to use and allows you to track a large amount of different stats. I haven't used the shot tracking feature yet, but it looks pretty straightforward and simple. yardages have been spot on compared with my buddy that uses a laser.

So far I really like the G80, very easy to use. Yardages look accurate, but hope to rent a simulator bay this winter to do a full comparison.
