Tip Weights for a very standard build

At the risk of sounding very dumb, I am a seasoned player/tinkerer but have only reshafted some wedges and demo clubs myself. I have always used lead tape for SW vs. Tip weights because i haven't actually bought any.

 

I have to reshaft a set of irons, and want to do it cleanly with standard iron lengths, x100 shafts, trying to achieve D4 on 3-PW.

 

For the vets - any guide as to what gram tip weights i might need? I was going to buy a set of 2, 4, and 6 gram brass weights but am wondering if i need to go higher.

I am a long ways from being a vet but the first thing I would do is weigh all the components and calculate the respective weight adjustments necessary for each club.

Once you know that you can order the respective weights or buy yourself a weight kit from a retailer. The kit is a little more expensive option but you will have all the tip weights you probably ever need going forward.

I have a selection of weights but if you don't build many clubs and don't want the clutter of extra supplies laying around all you need to buy are the large/heavy size lead weights. Lead is soft and easy to cut down to size so all you have to do is chop down each weight using wire cutters until you get the swingweight you desire.
