All our best player. As in guy who I’d bet on , or guy most likely to pop out a major any day now ? Fleetwood. He has it all. And will win several I’d bet.

> What's the purpose of the 20+ attempts criteria?

Completely agree. I've always felt like the best player without a major label got talked about a lot when there was a guy who was a veteran with a lot of wins who's only hole in the resume was a major championship. Very famously Phil and Sergio were those types. Kuchar I think has enough wins to kind of qualify but he feels much more like a guy who COULD win vs a guy who should have one. Rickie doesn't have as many wins as Kuch but hasn't been around as long, I kind of put those guys in the same category of winning about once every two years.

In the absence of a great player whose only missing accomplishment is the major championship I too would lean towards the young guys who have shown to be more talented players based on wins than the Kuch/Fowler/Sneds types. I'd go Rahm over Schauffele but we're one the same page with these two being the guys. Both of those are guys who SHOULD win majors vs. the guys who COULD win majors.

Much happier cashing them than writing them that is for sure.

Rickie is the most hyped "successful" player without a major. I don't remember the other 5 on the OP list getting as much hype. But he really doesn't have "20 wins and no major" like Tom Kite or Corey Pavin back in the day. Personally I don't think golfers belong on the list unless they have at least 10 wins, and some of those wins came in higher profile events, e.g. Bay Hill, Memorial, TPC.

I'd go with Rickie. He's played well in majors; shot some low rounds

and had some very high finishes in many. The way he won the Players

was unbelievable; he played some astounding golf that Sunday on the

back 9 and in the playoff.

+1

That title traditionally goes to a guy with a list of accomplishments long enough that it's surprising he hasn't won a major. In the absence of those types the best answer is that this title is currently vacant. As I said in a previous post if forced to name someone I'd lean towards Xander and Rahm. I love Fleetwood but he's getting a Fowler type resume for good finishes to get a top ranking without acquiring a lot of hardware.

You make an excellent point. I hadn't realized there are no players currently on tour with ten wins that haven't won a major; Kuchar and Snedeker both have nine. It's also surprising Fowler has only five wins in eight years. Hmmm...

It's actually his 10th year on the PGA Tour. First full season was 2010. Plenty of high finishes. Not many wins. Justin Thomas, as one example, accomplished more in 1 season, 2017 (5 wins/major), than RF has in 10. Same goes for Jason Day in 2015 (5 wins/major) and YJS in 2015. Same with Brooks. 5th full time season on the PGA Tour. 6 wins/4 majors.

The coverage Fowler gets vs. his actual wins is really a curiosity of sorts. It's obviously due to his outrageous outfits which he's focused on since the beginning of his career. Turned out to be a prescient move, he knew he wasn't going to move the needle with his performances thus correctional facility orange and hightops.

Neither does Koepka. Kidding. Yeah Finau is a bit of a disappointment. He should be much better than he is with his talent.

Been looking at Rahm's stats, results etc. after me offering him along with Xander Schaufelle in this debate. I posted this in the Charles Schwab Challenge thread after he blew up to a +5 in round 1 and it applies to this debate:

"Rahm has a poor record in tough conditions, weather or setup. Augusta aside his record at majors, WGCs, The Players etc. is poor apart from the odd result here and there. Must be his temperament as he clearly has the skills."
