Is "scripted" outfits for touring pros THE MOST LAME THING EVER?

The only thing I dislike is when you see the same outfit on multiple players on the same day. I bet the players don't enjoy it either.

I'm not a fan of white trousers myself but not sure that there is much wrong with that outfit...fresh spring colours and it fits which is more than you can say for most guys that play golf at a club level.

I don't understand the issue. The players voluntarily signed a contract (presumably) which stipulates the conditions of how and when the clothing is to be worn. Part of their job is fulfilling the terms of that contract so they get paid accordingly. I.e. they're a form of professional clothing model, in addition to being a pro golfer. I don't wear what the models on the runways in Milan and Paris wear, either, but that's not to say it isn't a legitimate and viable business.

 

Frankly, I don't think the golfers care that much. If it's reasonably close to their personal tastes, and performs well, they'll let the designers and marketers do their jobs and just go along with it and happily cash the check.

 

If they really wanted more control, they might do something like Venus Williams did in tennis where she created and designed her own line.

I would not have said a thing if the trousers had been white. They were yellow coloured like P.

Ah ok, the looked white on my laptop but I do remember Nike having Rory in some yellow monstrosities this year and if is them again, then I completely agree.

Koepka and Molinari basically wearing the same Nike outfit today at the US Open. Same grey pullover with white pants and white cap....while playing in the same group together lol.

From a Nike marketing perspective, I think it's quite funny/lazy.

Nike stuff is so horrible in some cases. Tigers blade collar when he won the Masters and everything Brooks wears, that I refuse to buy any of their hiddeous garbage any longer. Awful. Just awful.

Here’s a fun addition to your rage OP. I did a stint buying apparel for a golf retailer, and I remember actually placing orders for Jordan Spieth’s 2018 US Open scripting before he even played the 2017 US Open. That’s how much advanced planning and marketing goes into this stuff.

Couldn't agree more, the guy rotates between khakis and corduroys plus the shoes are beyond ridiculous. The Nike stuff is clearly polarising but I'm sure it will sell well whereas I can't imagine anyone being inspired to buy Skechers.
