Iomic Midsize & Oversized vs. Golf Pride Tour Classic

thickness wise?

I am trying to figure out how big the midsize and oversize Iomic are compared to the Golf Pride Tour Classic and Tour Tradition.

I have a GP Classic on all my putters but want something a touch smaller. I heard the Iomic grips are not as big as you would think, that midsize is actually slightly bigger than a normal standard grip. I am not really sure, I am going off what I have read.

What you have read is true. Their standard grip is kind of smallish. I have small hands, so it works for me, though I actually build mine up with 3-4 wraps just to beef it up a touch. The midsize is perfect, bigger than a standard grip, but smaller than a real midsize grip.

I speculate its a human factors thing....possibly designing for the average Japanese golfer's hands versus U.S.?

So would you say its (midsize) slightly smaller than the GP Classic? Is the oversize the same size or bigger than Classic?

Ditto chicken's assessment on the sizing.

Small Iomic is like a Cameron Studio Design or Ping Man.

Medium Iomic is much smaller than the Classic and just barely larger than the Tradition, if at all... they're very similar in size.

Oversize Iomic is much closer in size to Classic but still not might not even be as big, particularly at the butt end... but the OS Iomic has little to no pistol shape up near the butt end, it's very straight with hardly any taper throughout (which I personally didn't like).

Also, the large and midsize grips have very different edges. One of my favorite things about the regular and midsize Iomics is their sharp edges. However, the edges on the large are very rounded.

Dang, I like the less edged feel oh well I might have some Iomic grips to get rid of.

 

The grip on my Studio Design 1.5 feels bigger than the Tradition but definitely smaller than the Classic. I was hoping the midsize Iomic would be close to the size of the SC SD 1.5 grip.

I'm not 100% on this but I have played a GP Tour Classic - the Iomic mid-size should be a good fit. The standard is much smaller. I felt like the GPTC was actually a fairly large grip.

No prob... obviously the Classic has a very unique profile which makes it a little difficult to accurately compare the sizes. Hope whichever one you go with works out.

I love the GP TC shape, I just wish it was smaller, kinda in between the GP TT and the GP TC. But the shape of the GP TC is the most commfortable grip I have found.

If you like the shape of the TC, a couple grips you may also want to take a look at are the PING Fingerlock and PING Karsten Etched... both of which have very wide butt ends

Which red Iomic is this then? The midsize?

Iomic renamed their sizes a few years ago, probably after this thread was started, so it gets complicated.

 

I’m guessing the red Iomic in the pictures here is what they now call the 65g grip. If you look at the side view, you can tell it’s less tapered and has less of a pistol shape compared to the blue Tour Tradition, that’s why I think it’s the 65g.

I'd agree with Max - that looks like the newer "standard" Iomic size. While this may have been called the midsize 9 years ago, the current Iomic midsize is much bigger.
