Straight back no arc stroke... with a blade..?

I tried and tried and tried to make a blade style putter (Scotty Cameron Newport Studio Stainless? Can't remember the exact model I have) and just could not get consistent with it and went back to my Odyssey White Ice Rossie. That Cameron is a beautiful putter and feels great, but I could not make my putter stroke work with it. Lag puts were actually fine, but I could not stop pushing 6-10 foot putts.

I've come across a Mint Scotty SS Newport 2.7 that was near face balanced...I was messaging back and forth with the seller trying to arrange pick up within 15 mins of the Facebook ad in a local golf b&s group. No reply for half a day and all of a sudden marked SOLD. I'm still bitter after a month now...point is I'm also searching for the same and I feel the Newport 2.7 could have been it.

I fully agree with you. Why torture yourself out there with an ugly mallet putter when the "data" says you might and that's a big might save a stroke or two a round. Fitting for a putter is a waste of money when you know you are going to hate looking at the thing 18 times a round.

 

Look at all the pros. They are the best putters on the planet. Half of them aren't sure how to grip the club to be consistent. Claws, anchoring, praying, etc... Putt with what you like and enjoy yourself. Otherwise, you'll go crazy like some on tour are. Tiger, Nicklaus, Palmer, Mickelson (when he was good) all won with blades. Tiger arced but Nicklaus was straight back. All this fitting nonsense with putters is a scam.

I agree with this. I’ve looked at my arc and I’m almost perfectly SBST, and I’m putting like a demon with my most Toe-hangy putter at 45*. Likewise a similar story with face-balanced.

Agree....just got fitted for the Bettinardi SS #2 with a SBST stoke from club champion....great looking club and feels amazing

that's what I wanted; found a Cleveland Huntington Beach #8 that I really like. good feel and 370 gm.
