You vs Koepka in a handicapped match

On your course, how may clubs would Brooks Koepka have to pull from his bag before you think you could beat him?

Starting with the longest club, start removing his clubs. At what point do you win the match?

I think I'd have a chance if he was down to 9 iron and wedges.

I'm just using lots of chapstick and eating plenty of tictacs from then and there. And I kind of dummy it down, and make it very simple, that's what helps me. "

I think if he played from the tips and I played from the ladies tee and he lost his driver and 3 wood. I'd maybeeeee be able to finish within 5 strokes of him.

He hits his 3i 245yd. That kind of distance, he can still hit GIR from the tips on pretty much any course.

My short game is horrid currently. But I'd happily play Koepka off the back tees with both of us using 9 iron through to putter. Think it would be very close as I hit it further than him and 9 through to putter are my best clubs. If I putted well I'd have a chance. If he had 7 iron through to putter he'd beat me every time probably assuming he would be hitting a 7 iron 200 on average off the tee cranking it right up? Guessing he would be scratch /close to scratch with just a 7 iron through to putter at most golf clubs. With a 9 iron through to putter I'm assuming around +15? This is just speculation and pure guess work.

I think even if I made Brooks pull his putter along with Driver, 3W, hybrid, 3, and 4 iron he'd still beat me.

My only chance would be to try and get him angry as opposed to pissing him off. I'd show him the video of his GF after he denied her a pre-round kiss and ask what he thought of her folding her arms and walking ahead. No one likes to be denied on national TV.

My son and I watched Brooks Koepka hit balls on the range at the Deutsch Bank Tournament in 2013 or 2014. He was incredibly long and straight hitting driver off the range. It was an awesome show. My son asked me if I new who he was and although I had heard of him, I didn’t know much about him. His caddie overheard our conversation, walked over to us and said, “you’re looking at the next super star on The Tour”. That caddie was a prophet, no doubt. Back to your question, you’d have to start by taking his putter away, then all of his straight faced irons. Of course his woods would have to go. Let’s leave him with an 8-iron, 9-iron, and pitching wedge. I’m a 4-handicap and that might level the playing field. These guys are that good!

If he was allowed to pick which club....i think the answer is 1. He'd probably shoot close to par with a 6 or 7 iron but i usually do that too. I think it could be a good match

 

If i got to pick with clubs he could use it would be easier, because if you just gave him 52-56-60 or something it would be tough to shoot around par, so the answer might be 3 or 4

I would use his +15 handicap from the first round of the PGA. I would say I'm a "15". Take my 30 pops and he can keep all his clubs.

 

In all seriousness. These guys can hit sand shots with 4 irons. As long as he is if he's on I'm not sure straight up I could beat him with anything more than one club. A putter. He would bend that thing on the first or second smack has hard as he swings.

It would be interesting though.

I remember reading something about Bubba four or five years ago where he played a casual round with some buddies. Brought two golf balls and a hybrid with which he shot 77 I believe. I’m usually pretty happy with that score.

I'd let Brooks play from the tips with all his clubs, and I'd start at the 100yd. marker, and he'd probably still beat me.

well then i'm in your head. Match play gamesmanship good sir. you're losing already. Brooks doesn't seem to respond to mental torture so we must do something to level the playing field. my back is shot so I'm down physically, he's a health icon of the tour so we must find equal footing. fingers heal quickly and by the end of the front 9 he will have managed to first aid to mitigate the negative effects, hence the second breakage at the turn.

If Brooks gets a 7i, 56* and a putter, there probably aren't more than 9 guys on all of golfwrx who stand a chance in any format with a full bag. It would be an epic shitshow.

But I'd say the worse the course, the crappier the greens, the more even the match would get.
