TaylorMade M4 Irons?

I’m getting back into golf after a long hiatus. A buddy has let me borrow an older set of clubs and now I’m looking to buy some new irons. I’ve got my eye on some TaylorMade M4 irons. Just curious to see what experiences you’ve had for those that have tried them. How forgiving are they? Have you been pleased with them?

My middle to upper handicap customers like them. The stock KBS Max shaft is light with a soft tip and being discontinued, there are no custom fitting options for the M4. High ball flight with medium spin.

I've hit them and a buddy has a set. Easy to hit & nice high ball flight. Demo some on the course, if you can, and decide if they are right for you.

played a rental set last week whilst out of town. very easy to hit, a lot stronger than I am used to so I was constantly clubbing down, some cases even going down 2 clubs. but M4 set across the board was extremely easy and fun to hit. Ball pops off the face and goes very high, but I am also a high ball hitter but it was noticeably higher.

I am late to the party on the M4 driver, I am notorious for not being able to hit driver and going 3W off the deck. I hit driver 12 holes, all in play. All of a sudden I feel I may be in the market for an M4 driver.

I have a full set of M4’s , 4-LW, with a driver, hybrid and 3 wood and they soar. Almost too far. Really forgiving of mishits but because of the lack of feedback, sometimes shots are inconsistent. I’m clubbing down and then occasionally I’ll send a bomb over the green. I find that I can slow my swing down and I’ll get a more accurate distance but I am a pretty fast swinger, even with a stiff, steel shaft. To be fair I love them, and the driver gets a ton of distance. The low irons go super far. I can get 220-230 consistently with the 4 iron which may not seem like a lot to pros or even low handicappers but I play with the consistent low 90’s, high 80’s after my three years of starting. I did get a set of cheap Mizuno Player clubs just to see how they feel, but overall the M4’s didn’t disappoint. I’m a huge fan of Taylormade so I’ll be looking at the next line of M series clubs if not the TP series in 2020. Good luck with the hunt!
