Help, my swing with irons is killing me!!

Well, as an 8 handicapper I’ve experienced life as a 3 handicap and life as a person struggling to break 90. My iron game is atrocious right now. I’m averaging 1.75 putts a round, 60%+ in fairways and less than 25% GIRs. The misses have been an unwanted fade, or a short draw. I’ve been looking at it seems like I’m taking the club back significantly to the inside and coming over the top. Any suggestions from this swing collage guys and gals?

Sorry for the collage I haven’t figured out how to get it in sequence.

It's kind of hard to tell because the pics are so dark and it a few the clubhead isn't visible. To my eye it like your club is open at the top and on the downswing. Also at the top you are WAY past parallel and have crossed your target line. You also look to be open at or just before impact. So my guess would be you're flipping wrists to get square and sometimes you don't get it and fade and other times you do it too early and draw.

Again this is my unprofessional eye but some of these are things my instructor had me working on.

OK. You have appear to have a two-way miss, but maybe not. Are your divots deep or do you also hit a lot of thin or fat shots? Specifically, what is your predominant big miss? Hook or fade/slice? Depending on this answer, I can provide some help. Just from you stills, it looks like your right side is coming way too underneath in the downswing, but I need to know you miss tendencies. Also, where are you striking the clubface, toe, or heel on your bad shots?

Divots are shallow. I hook on my misses or push it. Almost a two way miss. Thin in typically the miss as I very rarely hit fat shots. I am striking the ball square when I use impact tape.

Would be better to see video, but whenever I'm going wrong I start looking at my tempo - usually I get too slow taking back or/and too quick in transition. When I correct that, everything else seems to fall into place.

Get a good preset move in there, ala Stenson weight shift to lead side before the BS. Might sync you up.

You have diagnosed yourself correctly. Because you go inside you then lift the hands up and back in hence across the line. First move down is a pull of the hands and opening of chest. This gets club steep and handpath too much out. You now have to dump the clubhead down under plane and come in shallow from a path too much from the inside. If you look at the picture just before impact the club is coming from the inside too much with high hands too far away from the body. I’m trying to rid myself of the exact same thing.
