Single Length Iron users question

So I've been playing around with a set of F7 cobra one length irons 5-GW. My question is should I take a typical 54 or 56 SW and extend it out to 37.5 and adjust to a flatter lie due to the added length or is there a lighter weight SW head that can be made at 37.5" and match the swing weight. I know they sell the SW and lob wedge for these sets but I'm not interested in dropping $138 for wedge during an experimental period. I have a ton of sand and lob wedges laying around. Do you guys use the longer SW and LW or do you use a traditional wedge set up ?

I personally love the longer wedge setup, but I play my SL set at 36.5”, which makes a difference.

I think I'll extend a SW and LW and see how they play. I know the swing weight will be heavy but I'll just see what happens.

I'm 4-LW all the same. I like the consistency, I'm use to it now in practice and on the course.

 

Extending a couple wedges and doing a basic test is a fine idea. I did that as well, but the weight was definitely heavy.

I've been playing sl for the last 1.5 years, didn't get along with the original sterling sand wedge so I built a hogan tk 58 at 36 inches, don't really notice the difference, never really use it for full swings just bunkers and around the green.

Did you eventually go with the Cobra one length SW and LW...? Instead of the homemade ones.

Do not extend a standard SW or LW to SL length. Both the bounce and SW will be way off.

I did. I fiddled for a month or so and then went with the full set down to LW.

Yes I agree I'd have to bend the lie and take some off the bounce which would also lighten the head. Might require a few areas drilled in the back of the head as well.

I fixed it by simply adding a regular length Vokey 52 and 58. Filled the gaps perfect. I finally measured my SL's and they are all 37" instead of 37.5 as I was led to believe.
