Oncore Elixir golf ball - whose tried it and your results

I was intrigued with the gall ball test and noticed that they specifically mentioned that the Oncore Elixir was kind of an outlier because it was less firm than their better performing balls, but still performed pretty well. I decided to give it a try and I'm enjoying it so much I'm going to keep playing it for a while. Here's what I've noticed.

First some demographic information: 71 years old, 90 swing speed with driver, played the Snell MTB Black, Bridgestone Tour B RX, and Vice Pro during the last year. I'm not a long hitter, so performance inside of 150 yards and on the green is of upmost importance to me.

Driver - the ball just flat out performs. As long or longer than any of the previous balls that I've played.

Long irons - again, distance is very good and the feel is really nice.

Short irons - spin is very good and seems to perform as well as any ball I've tried.

Wedges - no difficulty getting it to check up on the greens or roll out if you're playing a bump and run.

Putter - feel is excellent. I'm very particular about the way a ball performs off the putter, perhaps more than anything else, this can eliminate a ball from getting in the ball. I have found that on lag putts, I'm getting unbelievably close to the hole. Again, this is probably based on the feedback that I'm getting from the ball striking the putter head, and I would judge this ball better than any other that I've tried.

I haven't really used it in windy conditions, but off the tee box, it holds it's line very well. Seems to be very low spin off the driver. The Tour B RX may be a little longer on occasion, but it's not worth the price difference for those rare occasions.

The new version that they show on IG does not have the red square (which I personally like better) so I think you may have to go back to to marking with your circle again if you continue to buy them.

Just wondering if they changed it on the new lime green and yellow ball? I emailed them to inquire.

Emailed Oncore yesterday to ask about this and got this reply this morning:

Hi John, the new logo ELIXR will be available in a few months, if you prefer those we will swap them no charge (we have a small allotment currently), Ball is pretty identical some small changes to cover but performance wise still the same great ELIXR.

The more I deal with Oncore, the better I like these guys. I told him I didn't need to swap them out, because in a few months, I'll need to resupply anyway.

I picked up both the AVANT-55 and the ELIXER on their free trial. Haven't hit the Elixer yet but have played my first few rounds using their low-comp offering (since it's been cold as balls up here still) and really like the feel of it. I've definitely lost about a half-club of distance, but spin control and greenside touch have been great. Probably gonna open up the Elixer sleeve this weekend.

Has anyone bought the lime Elixir yet?

If so, how does the color compare to Vice?

I picked up the free sleeve and liked the feel and results, but want to stick with the lime color.

As a test today, I switched from the Elixir to the Bridgestone Tour B RX. The problem was that I noticed that my drives were shorter than I felt they should be. The Tour B RX was indeed longer and so I'm a little perplexed because I really like the feel of the Elixir off the driver and the irons. I play another 18 tomorrow and my plan is to use the RX exclusively and see how it goes. I'm also taking 3 Bridgestone Tour B X balls and I'm going to play it on a couple holes to see how they compare.

I think the reason I noticed the distance issue is because I normally play from the senior tees and today I played from the men's tee. All of a sudden the distance issue became very noticeable.

I was also testing out the Elixr and noticed that it was at least a full club shorter than I am used to. How did the Elixr compare to the Vice Pro for you in regards to distance? Also any experience with the Q-Star Tour? Elixr just feels so good tho.

It makes more sense of you test them side by side instead of on different days with possible different conditions and/or contact.
