Trouble extending my Scotty Cameron - Anyone help?

Just to start, I'm fairly novice with club making, but I have no problem expoxing and shafting clubs, installing ferrules, grips, etc but I feel like I may be missing something when I try to extend my putter.

 

I have a 34" Studio Select Newport 2 that I want to extend two inches. I purchased some steel shaft extensions from Golfsmith thinking I could just abraid(sp) the end, epoxy and slide into the butt of the putter. Well, it looks like extensions I bought may be too big as I can't get the ones I bought to slide into the Cameron shaft?

 

Am I missing something with these extensions or is it as simple as buying a different type of extension?

I always use the aluminum ones and they fit very tight into a Scotty shaft. I usually have to apply some force to get them in.

Cameron's need the smaller .580 steel extensions. Every Cameron I have ever done at least that's what I have used, sand down the tip, mix a small amount of grit / sand with the epoxy and install. The extra grit really helps lock the extension into place.

No need for buying an extension. Take an old shaft (that has steps) and keep cutting off the shaft (from somewhere in the middle) until you find a step section that will snugly fit into the Cameron butt end. Trim appropriately, abrade and glue.

That's exactly how I did mine.

Putters are often a smaller diameter. The extension you bought is simply too large. Like said above, you probably need a 0.580 diameter.

If you don't have an old shaft that works, the plastic ones for graphite shafts work too.

Sorry to threadjack but the search brought me here. . . I've bought a 0.580 extension piece for my Notchback and it does NOT want to go in the butt of the shaft. I researched before buying and so was certain I ordered the right size piece. I have no spare shaft I could use as per the above comments and no heavy duty tools to grind the extension down. If I sand for long enough by hand will this stubborn thing eventually go in? Or should I order a 0.560 extension?

Panic over, I managed, with some 40 grit course sandpaper, and a lot of elbow grease, to get the extension in!

old thread but for reference - I ALWAYS use an old cut up dg shaft - you can get cut ones/ trash etc from golf smith for free.

I used one on this just this weekend.

I bought a .580 steel shaft extension from golfworks, and I was able to get it into the end of my scotty cameron Golo S, after I lightly grinded the inside of the shaft, and the tip of the extension, with a dremel. The plastic extensions from golfworks for graphite and steel shafts at size .560 was way tighter. I had to dremel it down quite a bit.

I extended my Spider from 34 to 36 with a 4 inch giant drill bit I found in a junk drawer. I used a layer of electrical tape and then grip tape. I had just got a new Pistolero grip to put on there and wanted it longer. The bit fit perfect and the weight gave it a little counter balance which is fine. I’m not waiting 8 days to order and receive a special putter shaft extender. I typically custom order putters 36 and 2 flat but didn’t with this one.
