Stability Putter Shaft

Recommended Posts

I like fairly light builds and I just threw a regular graphite shaft in a putter, to make the head feel lighter than it is, and the results are great, plus I'm not out 200$! Original shaft torque was probably around 4.0 and now is much less at shorter length, and despite it torque not being almost zero, my putting is as good as ever.

I average 1.1 putts per round, so I don’t know how much this could improve on that. It is an interesting looking shaft, but I’m not there yet.

I have it in my putter. I like the feel a lot. I find that I know exactly where on the face I hit it but the ball stays on line better. Before this shaft, off center hits would tail off one way or another. The shaft also reduces some of the more harsh vibration at your hands. Whether that's by design or a biproduct, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. All I know is I've never putt better.

I have it installed in my Scotty and I love it. I also have the P2 Tour Aware Grip. As people have mentioned before, short putts it isn't going to make that much of a difference, but long putts 15 feet+, it really shines. Holds the intended line a lot better.

Tom Wishon doesn't seem to think a stiffer and lower torque shaft would make a difference.

Personally I think is gimmicky, but I also don't doubt the experiences shared by owners. I didn't find any benefit when I tested it.

When it comes to putting I think golfers will try just about anything if they feel it might improve stats. I simply can’t see a tremendous amount of stress being placed on a putter shaft during the stroke. But hey if it creates a mental edge then go for it!

This comment sums it up, perfectly. Some will feel the difference and fall in love. Others will not. It is similar to guys who swear by the inserts in a particular Odyssey series and those who swear by an all steel putter. If it works for you, the technology is sound. If not, the technology is not for you.

Well said, Hector.

I am shipping mine to them today. I’ve been considering a stiffer shaft in my Seemore so I figured I would bite the bullet and give this shaft a try.

Same boat. Can't say the shaft is an improvement. But it's also not worse.

Turns out if you connect the grip to the head with some sort of solid device, it may work out.

Installed one in to one of my two 2009 Scotty Montereys. Same head weight, same grip, and the one with the Stability shaft weighs 50 grams more (total weight). Feels too heavy and having a hard time getting ball to the hole on longer putts. So far not a big fan. I had read that the shaft weighed about the same as traditional putter shafts but in this case it weighed quite a bit more.

IMO they should charge double...if not triple for how drastically this helps your putting.

A more appealing feel is a pretty good explanation by itself - and also a plenty good enough reason to keep using it. Much more valid a reason than all that low torque and stability talk.

Update - I actually added extra weight to the sole of the putter (20 g weighs instead of 15) and it feels and has performed much better. Perhaps the stoutness of the shaft works better with heavier heads than some of the older, lighter heads. just sharing my experience anyway.

It’s a good shaft and definitely stable. I find the feel of it very good. It may not really fit my stroke as I am a fairly handsy putter. My wrists break a little back and through so a bit more flex feels better. I am using sorta bullseye shape putters right now, but I am hanging onto it until I switch to mallets. I think it would be better suited for it. I always switch it up from time to time.

Received my putter Friday and wanted to use it some before i gave a review. Some back ground info first. I'm a single capper that struggles of the tee and on the Green. In the last 2 months, I've bought 4 putters. A Betty armlock, an Odyssey toe up, a ping anser 5 and this one. It is an Odyssey exo Rossie with the stability shaft. It also has a garsen quad grip. It was already assembled when i purchased it off ebay. The Rossie, shaft and grip is new to me. Never had any of them. The greens have been running unusually slow this year. I usually average 1 to 2 three putts a round. Now the review.

Received it Friday and took it out that afternoon. I Immediately noticed the greens were a little faster. I practiced a little before teeing off. From the first putt, it just felt stable. No matter where i hit it on the face, it puts such a good roll on the ball. Ive had no problems with lag putting or short putts. I played 21 holes Friday, 36 Saturday, and 24 today. I've had 1 three putt out of all those rounds. Yes I've missed some short putts, but i made more than I've made in 2 months. It could be the greens, the exo head, shaft, or just the honeymoon, but I've bought in. Everyone that hit a few putts with it, loved it. 2 people have said they're buying one. 1 guy offered me more than i paid for it. As somebody else said above, it's just different. I can't explain it either, but it's money.
