Which irons won't you play and why?

For years it was always PING....basically anything PING. Never like the looks from when I first started playing in high school and it carried into my adult life.

However the older me has grown and and the club HO in me has a full bag of PING on order.

Cobra F9 TL 10.5 Atmos Black 7x
Cobra F8+ 3/4 &/or 5/6 Tour Blue 85x

For good golfers, there is no difference between TItleist ZM irons and any 2019 blade irons. For bad golfers, there is no difference between 2002 big bertha irons and 2018 m4 irons

Callaway or TaylorMade, and I'm not quite sure why other than maybe they seem to have the highest marketing budgets. Advertising sometimes has a paradoxical effect on me...

Callaway. The 8-W look terrible. I have hit them and they feel good and perform well, but the look of those short irons are terrible.

I played Mizuno for 10 years.

Last fall when the Srixon 785 irons came out I tested them against my JPX 900 forged.

785's are in the bag now, and they are just a whole lot of great irons. Can't say enough good about them.

Bought the 785 driver as well. Great club.

No interest in any other iron brands because I have never hit Titleist, Callaway, Ping (can't get past the look at address) Taylor Made well.

Although in the mid 90's I did have a set of graphite shafted Square 2 in 1-SW. Really tiny heads but they sure performed.

TM, like the TP5 ball, but detest their range of irons (woods look ok, but would never game) & PXG, because they are like the craft beer market, they do what "old man" beer company's do only charge twice the price for it because they are "boutique" (beginning to hate that word now also) and they look like some one has held them up and shot them with a MP5 machine gun, all those slugs in them.

Mizuno, because of all major brands they have the most disrespect for better left handed players since they stopped making the mp68s.

I invest in brands that are lefty friendly like Callaway and Titleist. Just got the AP3s and love them.

Nike, not just their clubs but their clothes and anything that has a swoosh. When it was revealed that they were using child labor to make their shoes many years ago it turned me off from their stuff....permanently.

I agree 100% and Nike is the one brand I also won't buy. In addition to what you mentioned, they also exploit children in their Converse ads.

Anything SGI... will never suit my eye at all. As far as brands go, I notice that Callaway is really the only brand I do not care much about and have no problem walking past in the store... Not sure why, just nothing special about them to me.

I've never hit a Taylormade iron I've liked. They've always felt dead to me. ANY Taylormade club has felt like that to me, honestly.

That said, my favorite irons ever? Lynx Parallax.

Mizuno isn't disrespecting anyone, it's a financial decision on their part. Makes no sense as a business model for a company like that to maybe break even making left handed clubs. Same reason the majority of people aren't out buying PXG irons because of the price.

Callaway. I won’t even pick up a Callaway club. No interest in even looking at them. One of the local pros here is a Callaway homer. He probably wears Callaway underwear it’s that bad. I don’t like him. Yes that’s my only reason. Lol

My buddies will say hey I got the new Callaway whatever...and I just say I’m sorry. I don’t even look at it.

Yeah they had some problems in the customer relations end in years past---- My bud used to be a KZG dealer somehow they ticked him off and he dropped them like a hot potato. I know another dealer here that dropped them for the same reason. I play their older stuff some because it is Kyoei forged--- I have heard relations wise they have turned the company around

I play older stuff that fits my eye--- Never have gotten into the politics of companies marketing practices. Could care less what Joe Tour Pro plays either. Most newer irons look clunky at the top line for me--- But if I had to go newer stuff it would either Cobra blades or the Callaway blades. As far as drivers I like the shape of the Titleist or Homna drivers. TM I do not like the shape of any of their drivers or Callaway for that matter either. Putters most of the newer ones I do not like especially anything Odyssey. Most Odyssey putters look very closed face to me at address.
