Harry Taylor Dimple-Design Wedges

I've been getting emails advertising and offering for sale a new set of dimple-design wedges designed by Harry Taylor. I am intrigued. Does anyone have any experience with these wedges? There is no place I can go to try these clubs out and I hate to commit without any information from any user whatsoever. Can anyone help?

Well, I bought the 60-degree. have played two rounds with it, and am pleased so far. The main attributes are that it sits nicely on the ground, glides through the turf - even the rough, and is almost impossible to hit fat. If experience continues to confirm the value of this wedge, I will be adding the 56-degree version soon.

A little update. I'm liking the wedge. The wedge and I are still getting acquainted. But it has some very good forgiveness features without he blatant gimmickry of some of the novelty fat-bottom wedges on the market. The average player, with practice, can hit all the short green-side shots that require some loft with this club. It is capable of about 70-75 yards in full shot situations. One thing I noticed is that it came to me about 3/4" shorter than my other lob wedge. I will probably correct this in due course. However, if a person wants a lob wedge in his arsenal and has trouble with what he/she is using now, this club is worth a try at $87.

Do we need air to breathe? It's the same thing. Mostly.

You know yourself that every golfer has itches that can only be scratched one way - through new club acquisition. :D This I'll say: whenever I buy something new for golf, I have a specific purpose in mind.

DP2 and DP3 were abject failures and if you saw DP4 2 weekends ago you'd know that 4 was on the way.

Idea is not new. I had an old golf iron from back in the 1930s which had a dimples rather than grooves. Clubface looked something like this:

The dimples on this wedge are on the bottom, not the face.

Just a little update: the 60" wedge and I are dating. I haven't yet given it a ring. It is 5/8" shorter than the Ping G10 I've been using. It has a TT steel shaft instead of the graphite I have in all my other irons. I'm going to eventually bring this club in line shaft-wise, and length-wise with the wedge I have been using. Then, if results are good, the Harry Taylor wedge and I will set a date. It has some good playability features.

So far liking these wedges. Very hard to hit fat. Great in the sand.
