Ping i210 U Wedge

Looking to get a set of i210's and cannot decide if I should go with the U wedge. I currently have a 51 degree SM7 but might include it in the trade in to get the new set. I have only used the SM7 for full shots, so I was thinking having a little more forgiveness with the i210 U wedge may help me. Of those that have used it, have you had any gapping issues?

I love the U Wedge! I only use it for full swings and never around the green but I can flight it up or down and I like that it performs like the rest of my full swing clubs. Personally, and I get its because 99% of the time I only use my 54* or 58* around the green, I think it makes sense to use a gap wedge (50ish degrees) that matches the rest of your full swing clubs. To answer your question more specifically, I do not have any gapping issues.

I was decided between the U wedge and the glide 2.0 stealth and the stealth gaps perfectly and is a bit more flexible in my opinion. I had vokeys to start and the glides offer more forgiveness than the vokeys and they just fit the i210s so well. just my thoughts but I doubt you can go wrong with the i210 u.

I would get the U. I hit a lot of spinner knockdowns with my gap wedge so I find they can be a bit jumpy at times with a set wedge but if it's mainly for full shots it's a no brainer. More forgiving and blends perfectly with the set. I wish Ping made an iBlade UW. I had Glides which are great but the stock shaft is a moon ball machine.

I've played most of the i series irons and always end up getting the U wedge. Perfect for full shots if you don't mind high and good for the running chip shot. I keep a Vokey 50* around if I want to keep the ball down.

No gapping issues wiht mine. My U wedge is one of my favorite clubs in the bag.

Ping is about the only Mfg. that consistently makes a great gap/U .

I ordered a glide 2.0 stealth 50* at 1* strong making it 49*. Same length and shaft as the PW. Actually all my wedges are the same length/shaft as my 210 PW. Transitions and gaps perfectly.

Back in the day, the PW of most sets had the same loft as that U wedge. If you think of it that way, why not get a gap wedge that matches the rest of the set? Also, I haven't hit the 210 wedge, but every Ping U wedge I have used over the years has been excellent.

I’ve played the U wedge in all my sets that they’ve been available and I love it!! So good on full shots and I hit all my bump and runs with it...so easy to chip with.

Lee Westwood's usual setup includes two U wedges, one at standard loft and the second at 53*.

I've got the U wedge as well. I much prefer the forgiveness on longer shots (>70 yards) vs. a blade wedge. I still find the U wedge to be pretty nimble around the green with longer chips and seems to spin pretty well.

I'm playing the U wedge. I'm a fan. I like it for short touch shots that bounce out a bit, too. Good for back pins. It's great.

I have s55s and there is no UW available. Bought a Glide 50 to fill out set but problem with that is face on that thing is designed to spin. i hit a PW 145-150 and even if i absolutely step on the Glide 50 it goes 130 max. Looking for an i210 UW to replace it with

Have it bent 1 or 1.5 degrees strong. You may have the same gapping issue if you throw in an i210 UW because you will lose distance from the high launch.

I had the glide bent to 49.5. My s55 PW is 46. Im looking for a 49-50 degree to behave more like an 11-iron than I am a wedge, if that makes sense.

 

I even asked Ping if I could get an s55 Pwedge and bend it to 49-50and they said they’ll only bend 2 degrees.

Thanks for all the responses! Got the U wedge and have loved it so far. Makes those 120 yard shots very easier. I also love it for chipping at back pins.

It should happen well with the rest of your set. I use my U wedge a lot, full shots, 3/4 shots and the odd chip, but then again I use everything from 8I to 64* for chips, depending on the lie, my 9I being the default first choice for greenside, my SW for pitches.

I'm planning to get the U wedge with either i210 or G410 irons. But I'm curious if anyone opted for the S and/or L wedge(s). And if so, how do you like them?
