Currently gaming a set of 716 AP2 irons, but I think I will go back to my Callaway Razr X Forged. One of my all time favorite set of irons. 3-PW with Project X 6.0 flighted shafts.

Love my Titleist driver also. 915 D2 with a Grafalloy BiMatrix Tour Prototype shaft.

Another honorable mention is the Adams Speedline Super S 3 wood. Its an amazing club (factory shaft).

TA 3's have been mentioned a bunch and they are probably one of the best players CB's cleveland ever made.

I still game Hogan '99 Apex blades (3-E) and am not planning of changing any time soon. Maybe when the groove wear out.

 

I am gaming a Taylormade M3 440cc 9.5 degree (9.9 actual) with a Graphite Design Tour AD-DI 6S shaft. I'm still getting to know the driver. As a comparison I took out my Titleist 905S 9.5 degree with Graphite Design Tour AD-DI 6S shaft (full bore) and am hitting the 905S much more solid and it appears to be just as long or very close (on the range and maybe 10 yards difference if any). There's something about the Titleist drivers up to the 905 series that was just PFM! I'm planning on another range session tomorrow and we'll see how the 905S does compared to the M3.

 

I am gaming a Titleist 906F2 15 degree 3 wood. That replaced a Titleist 970 series 15 degree 3 wood.

 

Then there is persimmon. I have a few terrific drivers I occasionally bring to the course with a sleeve of Titleist Tour balata balls (I have a few sleeves left). Now we're talking Cult Clubs with persimmon woods!!!

Ping Zings. Pure classic. Got them used in high school, win many a tournament with them. I've considered going back to them so many times... Saving them for my kids when they're tall enough.

I think most Titleist drivers from that era are extremely popular. 905 series was just soooo good across the board its nuts...

 

What I think makes drivers ( and not just Titleist ) from this time so endearing is that with the glued hosels you HAD to really want to change something to swap a shaft since it would take some time, and it was also way harder to go back. With that being the case many people actually stuck with a club set up for a longer period of time and got really dialled into it. Thats just a hypothesis, but I believe it has a lot or merit.

Not sure if they fall into the Cult category, but I had a set of KZG CHll irons many years ago. These things were hollow cavity and went a mile. Today's distance from an iron released in 2002, (i think) , and that had Old School lofts.
