The only saving grace for the players is it's not 2 rotating course Majors back to back, getting a little familiarity with the Evian.

I still think the back-to-back majors is silly. I also think giving the players the chance to play the Scottish Open or practice in the UK ahead of the Women's Open is a better route given the differences in the courses/style of play.

Other than travel budgets for the less accomplished, why even play the Scottish under this schedule?

Even worse, they put the new team event the week before, so anyone who plays it has to fly across the pond right before the Evian.

Maybe it's just a tough situation. If they had a week off before Evian and then went Evian-Scottish-Open the Scottish may still get pinched with people preferring to just rest and practice. Or, add another off weak after Evian and then players complain of can't go back to US, increased burn/holding costs, etc.

As always, I guess it's easier to complain than actually fix something...

I think the problem is they don't have enough events in the proper place early in the year. From what I remember looking at the total sched. a month or so ago, there were lots of gaps (weeks off) early in the year and not much room late in the year. Although they love the Asian swing to end the season they might be better served taking the event in Japan and either China or add another Korea event on the first Asian swing. You could also try moving the Portland event up to the Cali swing.

Too early in the season for Japan or Korea. Looking at the JLPGA and KLPGA events at that time, they're bundled in winter gear.

The Taiwan event would work (or Malaysia before it was cancelled).

It would be nice if they got a better showing at the Australian events. Those two plus NZ, if it was viable, would be a nice three week stretch.

If so, still not sure if you have an off week or not between the south Asia loop then. No one would play 6 weeks in a row but a tough place for people to be stranded in if not sure can play, etc.

Scrap the Evian altogether, a fifth major is not needed. Take that title of "major" off the Evian event and see how many players show up. Back to back majors is also a fail. No offence to France or it's people/players, but Korea deserves to host a major way more than France, if a fifth major is a must take it to the place where the fans and talent are coming from.

I think Europe deserves at least three tournaments. One should be in Sweden rather than Scotland, or maybe Spain. One major is enough for Europe.

Agree that one major should be in South Korea or Japan.

I was at the practice round on Tuesday and continued a tradition (past 4 years) of giving away drawings to some of the girls. I try to find something that is meaningful and base the drawings accordingly. This year is was Annie Parks dog and Brooke/Brittany Henderson holding the Canadian Open trophy. Annie Park was one of the nicest players I have met...just like talking to an old friend! Brooke and Brittany were also quite nice!

For levity, a pic of my grandson, Ezra, along his pet chicken, Guna, have been included. Ezra could call Guna just like a dog and she would trot over to him. LOL. Sadly, 5 days after this pic was taken his other grandpa accidentally ran over and killed Guna, with Ezra being unaware. My daughter told Ezra that Guna had to leave and go help family members at another farm :). Anyway, here’s the pics from this year, enjoy!

Very nice. Maybe next year, you can present Sung Hyun with drawings of Ato and Daon. Those pups mean the world to her.

I want to second this. I hate to do this because it's a lot of pressure, but this is a really cool thing you have going!

Thank you for your kind comments. Will see what next year brings...I’d really like to do a drawing for In Gee Chun or Amy Olson. That said, next year is a ways off.

FYI - I commission the drawings from a struggling artist friend as a way to help him out. It costs me $100 per drawing but it helps him and the girls really seem to like them. Almost didn’t do it this year b/c my sister has needed a lot of financial help after her open heart surgery. Ultimately, decided to keep the tradition going :)

Sorry to hear about the chicken...RIP.

Ya....you better get a drawing to Dumbo ASAP....the way she's playing...she's be on the Symetra, KLPGA's Dream Tour or shagging balls at The Good Doctor's golf academy in Seoul by 2021.

But In Gee gets a lot of presents from all her fanboys....so you better make the picture special so she decides to keep it....she threw away Argonne's home made Dumbo head cover in the garbage at O'Hare airport....some janitor's now playing with a new head cover.

The current Dumbo head cover on her Ping driver is from some fanboy from Taiwan.

Do you provide the gals with a drafting tube so when they pack it up to travel?...so the drawing doesn't get ruined.

Well, at least we got to see some golf, including a number of players that rarely get coverage. The course looks so wet. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much over the weekend.

It looks like the morning wave got their rounds in, and the early PM wave finished nine holes. A handful of players never got to tee it up, so they'll be up early. Not sure if they can finish the second round by sunset tomorrow, but it should be close. 'Gotta feel bad for everyone involved with the tournament, including the fans. It doesn't look like many folks hung around until the afternoon. Hopefully the crowds will show up tomorrow.

'Nice round by Jenny. The greens were receptive, but one had to stay out of the wet rough.

That's a shame. Tough conditions for the fans makes is hard to have them hang in there. But on the bright side it should be a birdie fest the rest of the way with the wet course. Sunday it may get tougher because it should be dry by then.
