Taylor Made wedges - thoughts?

I've always been intrigued by Taylormade's wedges. They look like a serious club, but I don't see many people who game them (still haven't run across a single person who has one in their bag). I've been tempted to pick one or two up when I change wedges, but never pulled the trigger. There just didn't seem to be as many grind options or configurations as Vokey.

Anyone game the TM wedges? What do you think?

Compared to your previous wedges, how did it go?

What lofts do you use?

Are the stock shaft options ok?

Are there enough different grinds?

How do they fare in the sand?

Feel? Playability?

Do you ever feel like you have all your wedge needs covered with TM, or do you have to bag other clubs as well? (I don't think that they make a 60, if I recall)

I'm a wedge ho and I have a set of the milled grind wedges in the bag currently (not the hi toe). I like them so much I sold my Vokeys last weekend and my Glides are up for sale this weekend.

What is the benefit of high toe on lower lofted clubs?

I bought a used 3 wedge set of the original 2012 ATV and was quite surprised of how solid the feel was when hit on the button on full swings despite being a cast club.

 

Despite me gaming those wedges because of the versatility on all sorts of lies, any wedge from any manufacturer is good as long as it is used correctly.

 

With proper technique, a wedge from your local Goodwill can keep up with a $150 Vokey.

My MG 54 is my best club in the bag. I am a huge MG wedge fan to include the HT60.

Got to do a test review of SLDR irons in 2014. SLDR came with 4i-AW. Looking to fill out the set, I got the best hits with the Tour Preferred 56/12 (KBS Tour V). Later, I took a flyer on the R-Series EF Grind 60/10 (KBS Wedge Flex). Both the 56° and 60° *, though slightly different models, are excellent wedges.

 

Until about three years ago, TM was rather like Tour Edge. It made decent wedges, but didn't promote them that well. TM has changed the last couple of years with the Milled Grind and the High Toe. Vokey, Cleveland and Callaway still lead in wedges among major OEMs, but TM has upped its stake.

* Funny story on the EF 60. I got it at a golf expo, and it had a brown smudge on the heel. Listed at $85, the clerk said, " Yo, it's got rust on the heel. Will you give me $45?" I said yes. Got it home and it wasn't rust at all. Someone had smeared caramel from a candy bar on the heel, which wiped right off and gave me a new club with unhit head.

I rubbed it in my fingers. It had a sugary texture, and the warm smell of caramel. I know my caramel! That's one reason I'm 15 lbs. overweight
