TST Refugees: How's the adjustment?

first things first: i've seen a number of impassioned posts about this topic here and elsewhere and just want to share a **friendly reminder about the forum rules below**.

some unfriendly associations have been made like dictator/dictatorship, while others might suggest prince/principality or even king/kingdom as more appropriate (even if outdated). my personal opinion is that *it's more like a slick-looking, tiny little country*, but i digress...

> [Rules and Terms](http://www.golfwrx.com/rules-and-terms/)

> 2. Being considerate in dealing with other golf forums and their members

> 2.1. No threads or posts that bash other forums or their members.

now that that's out of the way, **what are some things you were glad to discover on golfWRX?**

or **are there things that were available "elsewhere" that you miss and would like to see more of on golfWRX?**

i was a "well established member" with an "excellent" community reputation at that other place though i've been more of a lurker around these parts. in my limited time on this site i think the instruction is pretty solid and i've learned a lot about clubmaking in the club techs section of the forums.

in any event, i'm looking forward to participating in a community with a healthier balance of view points and can't wait to learn more about what golfWRX has to offer.

thank you!

edit to add: if i seem overly sensitive to moderation just chalk it up to that TST PTSD.

I will admit I am more of a lurker at this site. From what I have seen it is much more professional and not ruled by a single person like the other place. That really is the best thing here, it isn't just one person and what they think dominating the conversations. The knowledge base here seems higher. Over there they are obsessed with the cute little keys and try and push his book down your throat in every discussion.

thanks, i really appreciate your feedback, and while i doubt anyone could successfully argue against your point here some people might consider the way you phrased it as less than considerate, if you catch my drift. in other words, perhaps we could try to frame criticism of the other site as a positive of golfWRX, or at least use more sensitive language. this way we're not breaking rule 2.1, know what i mean? ;)

> e.g. one thing i really like about golfWRX is that when you ask people if they could share their practice routines, the members of golfWRX are more likely to actually provide you with example practice routines instead of suggesting you purchase a $30 book to get the answer. this kind of altruism is something i was happy to discover when i became a member of the golfWRX community.

14 yrs ago I was a lurker at BSG and found this place more inviting. The principles by which this site was founded echo’d less shilling more reality.

Some of that kinda changed over course of time but it’s still full of good information.

The level of douchebaggery here, alt handles, trolls, shills, and general arse-hattedness has definitely increased, but just like any other community of a quarter million people, that’s gonna happen.

The admins are pretty even keel and haven’t changed much at all so that’s nice.

I just started checking in on golfwrx, but haven't spent enough time here for the full experience. That said, I do feel there is a distinction which relates to thesandtrap's shortcomings. I honestly do feel that the thesandtrap and iacas mislead site visitors/users, but that's about the extent of it. TST to me seems like a forum to promote the iacas's swing ideas and perspectives, and not a place for any golfer to come to discuss their experiences and views. And I think that's fine, everyone should have a place to go for what they are into. But perhaps it should be renamed or at least have a tagline like "The 5SK forum" or "Golf by Iacas" or something like that, so people don't get confused or frustrated when posting their own stuff. Golfwrx to me (so far) seems much more of a place where every golfer can find folks that they can chat freely with on their golf journeys.

@knuckleballer, 100% agree -- i think you hit the nail on the head. an accurate tagline seems like it would be helpful for new members/visitors.
