PGASS coming to MA in 2 weeks. New store in Peabody, MA

I saw the alert on FB that we are getting a PGASS at the former Toys R' Us building at the North Shore Mall in Peabody. I believe I saw a 2nd one is coming on the South Shore as well (Braintree maybe??).

 

Feb 2nd is the opening day.

WTF. There are perfectly good hollowed-out shells of BOTH Toys R Us and Babies R Us in Framingham...and we get nothing? Peabody and Braintree? I won’t be able to get out that way more than, uh, once a week at most.

I figured the North and South Shore areas were decently covered with golf retailers... and the Metro West has a small section in Dick's.

The irony of Route 9 is that Golftown put Golfer's Warehouse out of business...and then promptly went out of business itself...I never really appreciated GW until it was gone...

It depends who stays at GW they have some real knowledgeable guys there but who knows who jumps ship and goes there and where a lot of stuff is price protected the prices will be the same and bet GW will pay better on trades

Pumped about the Braintree location. I use to go to Golfsmith in Avon before they closed. To much of a pain to pass the city to hit up the Reading One

MetroWest gets the shaft again. Golfers Warehouse was amazing. Now I roam the Dicks section in 5 minutes. I don’t get it. There should be a huge amount of business in MetroWest.

Large selection of everything. They have the biggest shoe section I’ve ever seen. The place was packed on Saturday when I was there so I didn’t last long. I’ll go back in a few weeks when the buzz dies down.

I went the 2nd weekend they were open and got 3 shirts for $60. I am used to PGASS as my parents live in Myrtle Beach but the store was definitely hopping. The Braintree store will be open June 1st according to the Mgr I spoke to.

Been a couple times. Huge space, nice amount of clothing and shoes, more than Golf Galaxy. Also a massive putting green and tons of hitting bays. It was a nice store, i didn’t see many deals to be had so it seemed like straight retail to me.

We have a Golfers Warehouse in Hartford and it has undergone a renovation and relocation across the street.

It is a very nice store with ample supply and multiple hitting bays.

 

The Golf Galaxy in Milford, CT is as close to being pathetic as a golf store can be, imho

Agreed, I live south of south shore (Fall River) and either Metro West or Wrentham would have been better than Braintree. Then you could also put one in Wareham for the Cape and had some good coverage of all things golf. Braintree blocks metrowest as being "too close". Would love one in RI or the closed Toys R Us in Swansea. :lol:

The issue you might have down there is what the deal is to lease theses place PGA SS is owned by Arthur Blank also of Home Depot and Atlanta Falcons and they do alot demographic and lease to determine what would be profitable

Anyone have any club repair work done at the Peabody location? Looking to have someone adjust the lengths and lies of my irons and install new grips. I’m in Metrowest and have been going to the Golf Galaxy in Burlington and, occasionally the one in Reading, and have found their club work pretty mediocre. I still miss the GW that used to be in Natick.

I would go to Club Champion in Needham, unless you feel like it's too much $$$.

I live just outside Metrowest and have to go to Auburn to Golfers Warehouse. I'd love something in Framingham/Natick. Golf Town/Golfsmith in Northboro was perfect for me. Too bad they over-expanded and went out of business.

Braintree store openend about a week and a half ago. Went there yesterday and it is huge!!!

I went to the Braintree store on opening day. I the Golfsmiths we *had* and the PGASS in Braintree are the same size. I've been to PGASS's in other markets, and they were 2-3x the size of the one in Braintree.
