Discount Dan’s Golf shoutout

Wanted to throw out some quick praise for Discount Dan’s Golf. New set of Mizuno irons just arrived today, and the price was as good as this forum told me to expect. What really impressed me was the customer service. Turns out the clubs were built with the grip logos up, even though I had specified logos down. Small detail, but I knew it was going to bug me. Without hesitation, discount Dan’s offered to refund me the cost of regripping. It made a great deal and experience even better.

 

With a business model and service like this, I will not buy new equipment from anybody else going forward. Customer for life!

I do love me some DD's but on a couple quotes I've gotten from them, the "only" savings they could offer was free shipping and no sales tax on full retail price. Obviously better than nothing, but... Wonder if it's due to that particular OEM?

There are several OEM's who have restrictions on them. They don't want to see their products sold online at a significant discount. IIRC, there are some clubs that you can't order on line and have to call them to place an order.

That's one of the many benefits of DD's. The clubs come custom from the OEM and if there is a warranty issue, it's back to the manufacturer for remedying the situation.

Yup, any new item that doesn't offer an additional discount, I always buy from DDs.

It's really not that cheap. I mean maybe like 50 bucks off a set off irons? Better than nothing but it's not like you're paying 700 for a new set of 1200 dollar irons. I think people exaggerate it a little.

It's simple, if you really want deep discounts, buy used clubs off eBay or BST. If you must have certain specs or brand new clubs, not gonna find it any cheaper than DD. Be realistic.

I want to chime in here too. Recently bought a set of Mizuno JPXForged. Both the price and customer service were unbeatable. Would highly recommend.

You ought to delete/edit your post without revealing DD quote. Don't put them on blast. Keep all pricing private.

He’s right, you shouldn’t give him crap. There’s been retailers in the past that were known around here for offering great unadvertised pricing, that got ruined because of loose lips on these forums. It takes nearly zero effort to look up DD’s email address and peck out a note asking for a quote on what you’re interested in, and they respond quickly during business hours. Put in a tiny bit of effort and find out for yourself, it won’t be a waste of your time (unless you’re asking on one of the couple brands that they just cannot offer discounts on). Don’t expect others to do the work for you, or get snarky when they tell you they can’t. Bud.

i called a few weeks ago to order a ping driver. they said they were busy and would call me back but never did. also emailed to tell them to call me so i could place an order and never heard back.

luckily i started hitting my driver better and didn't drop the $300+ dollars.

other experiences have all been great before this one....

I've placed several orders with Discount Dan's and am a big fan of theirs. However, I emailed them Wednesday last week to ask about a particular product and I have not heard back. My assumption is, given their light-speed responsiveness in the past, they are either short-staffed, closed, or completely overwhelmed right now and are playing catch up. I'm not excusing their lack of response (it's pretty easy to just set an auto-reply that says "Thank you for your email. Due to the world going to he!! in a handbasket, we are short staffed/completely overwhelmed with emails and our normal responsiveness has been negatively impacted. We will try to get back with you in 7-10 business days."), but just trying to provide an explanation for what is abnormal behavior on their part.

That is weird especially since they mostly drop ship custom orders so they can work from home. However, there are likely external circumstances we are unaware of.

emailed them for an order, they responded within 20 minutes and then i placed and confirmed within the next hour. no problems.
