TXG Visit...where to play in Toronto?

Hi Folks,

Looking for a little advice on where to play in the Toronto area this spring.

My brother and I will be traveling from the northeast US for a day at TXG and have 2 free days to get in a couple rounds.

Unsure if we'll be renting a car or not...and it's our first time to Toronto.

Most likely Air BnB'ing somewhere near the airport...so the courses need to be relatively close, so if we have to uber, the bill wont kill us.

Any recommendations for May golf in Toronto?

Thanks!

Well you definitely need a rental car. Airport to down town is a half hour If your after bars and touring the city. If you want to go downtown that is.

A lot of golf is 30 mins in all directions from the airport area.

There are a ton of courses to play. And with that rental car don’t be afraid to drive a bit. Google around a bit.

Osprey is a good suggestion. But as mentioned.... pay attention to the weather and pack accordingly. But if you NE US you should be well prepared.

So the trip is now booked. Going to be the first week in June, so the weather shouldnt be an issue. As someone mentioned, I'm from Maine...weather doesnt scare me one bit.

I am going to work with Ian...my brother with another fitter. Cant wait.

We're not really concerned with the downtown bar scene...would rather spend the time closer to the courses.

Thanks for the rental car advice. If everything is 30 minutes + from the airport, it would probably be quite a bit cheaper than the Uber option.

I've looked into Osprey...love the linksy course that they have. Also looking at Copper Creek, as it seems a little more centrally located.

Any thoughts on that or others?

Eagles Nest is another 20 minutes east of Copper Creek, always rated among the top public tracks in the GTA. There are also some very good private courses if you have any connections.

Count me as another vote for Osprey Valley. The play as many holes in a day as you can fit in deal is great. The Hoot course is probably my favourite course in Ontario.

For something cheaper, Brae Ben in Mississauga is a lot of fun. It's a municipal course, but it's always in great condition. It's a heathlands style course built on top of an old landfill site so you have really cool 360 degree views of the Mississauga and Toronto skylines on every hole.
