Footjoy Stands by Warranty in the USA

My 13 month old Hyperflex 2 starting taking on water. Footjoy informed me that as they didn't make that model, they would provide an equivalent as soon as it was available. Well, in my opinion they provided an upgraded shoe, as the brand new Fury just arrived on my door.

 

Nice fit and pretty comfortable, but with 5 inches of snow, it might be a while before they get a real test.

 

Kudos to Footjoy for good customer service!

It is nice when a company stands behind their warranty. So many try to wiggle out, but Footjoy was an easy fix.

They are pretty comfortable, but I fear they may run a size smaller than the Hyperflex 2. I don't know if you tried the Hyperflex 2, but it was very roomy and they ran very large. I wear an 11 in a street shoe, but only a 10 in the Hyperflex 2. I think the Fury is more normal sizing. So, I may exchange up a 1/2 size. That said, they have good support and are wide enough for me (I like them a little bit wider).

 

I won't be able to make a true determination until I've got the correct size.

 

They do look pretty nice and they are very solid and well made.

I think that FJ has the best customer service you'll find.

Ha this has reminded me of the guy that was complaining that FJ wouldn't replace a pair of 7 year old ICONs that he bought on the internet and found out that they were the wrong size. Apparently, that made FJ's customer service poor. In actual fact it just made the guy look stupid. I wonder how he is getting on with his wrong sized shoes...

Some people are way out there.

 

I've owned at least five pairs of Footjoy and never had a reason for a warranty claim before, and some of those shoes lasted 4 or 5 years.

FJ is hands down the BEST customer service. I have had the same thing happen (as the OP) a few times over the years (BOA lace damage, taking in water, spikes falling off, etc) and have always received a new pair from them.

 

Customer for life. (Even though Ecco are so gooooood)

I’ve returned 10-12 FJ shirts due to sun damage on the shoulder areas.

 

Literally send shirts back, they email me and let me pick any replacement model; and they ship me brand new shirts.

Footjoy sent me an 10 1/2 to replace the 10 they originally sent, as the Fury runs a little bit smaller than the shoe it replaced (also by Footjoy...go figure).

 

Got to put them in play today for the first time. Outstanding fit and great support, even in muddy and slippery conditions.

I’ve worn Footjoy exclusively for the past 25 years. Only had two problems and both times Footjoy simply said return the shoes and sent me replacement pairs.

The 20 round follow-up post.

Ok, yesterday was the 20th round of the season. The shoes really are comfortable. Once in a great while the boa button on the right shoe only pops and I have to retighten them. Not a big deal.

I've cleaned them four times now, and they are not the easiest shoe in the world to get clean, especially if you been playing in muddy spring conditions (things have been pretty wet here in Michigan this spring). I ended up getting a soft bristle brush to clean out the mesh. Again, not a big deal, but the mesh and the striped area on the sides get embedded with dirt and it does not wipe/rinse off. You've got to get a brush deep in there to pop that dirt out.

 

But, the important thing is they are stable, flexible, and zero discomfort. That is 95% of the requirement for me in a good shoe.

38 rounds in. Two complaints with the Fury. First, the material inside the upper heal is wearing away. 38 rounds is not enough play for this to happen. Second, these things are a serious pain to clean. I've now gotten a dish brush with soap and fine bristles and I still can't get the dirt out that is embedded in the slots on the side and the mesh on the toe. I spent 15 minutes a shoe this morning and failed to get them anywhere near spanking clean.

Footjoy needs to prove out some of these material constructions with real golfers in real dirt.
