Yeah, but he hasn't won in two months.....he's done. LOL!

Actually, I was shocked to find out that he got out of there at two under. That was remarkable considering that Tiger hit it all over the lot....LOL!

Careful. About 90% of the folks on Golfwrx prefer that a Fresh Face win every major, while simultaneously rooting for Tiger Woods to win every major. Not quite sure how that math works out but okay.

I'm not sure most of those here giving you grief for this post truly appreciate how much recognizable faces at the top of the game drives fan interest and the wider golf economy. In fact, if you could draw a Venn diagram of the folks who root for a different Fresh Face every major and the folks who worry about "growing the game" it would be a perfect circle. They're obviously oblivious to the fact that having a dominant player or rivalry _is_ what grows the game and increases participation. Imagine if every NBA team went 41-41. Fan interest would plummet. Hatred or love of the Warriors and the Lakers and LeBron and Curry spark fan interest. Fan interest equals participation and money.

Every successful pro sport has that one team or player fans love to hate or love to root for. In college football it's Alabama. In mens tennis Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic each have their partisans. In pro football it's the Patriots. In the MLB it's the Yankees and the Red Sox. In golf during the 2000s Tiger was the lightning rod for fan interest. You either rooted for him or against him. But, either way, whether you wanted him to win or fail, you just had to tune in. Parity is not good for professional golf and this musical chair mediocrity on Tour (excepting Koepka) is going to make golf even more of a niche sport than it already is.

Besides Tiger and maybe Phil, Brooks Koepka is actually the perfect player right now to draw eyes to professional golf. Casual fan interest peaks during the four majors and it's good for those casual fans to see someone they recognize at the top of the leaderboard. Brooks is tailor-made for that role because majors seem to be the only events he cares about, lol. Until we get a truly generational player, a legend to rise up again and dominate this game, Brooks will do until one comes along. And to those who root for Fresh Faces and One-And-Dones to win majors, you're doing the game no favors.

Ahhh, finally, finally, an intelligent man. When Jack came on the scene people hated him an loved Arnold Palmer. They use to call him fat Jack but now he is beloved (rivalry). Brooks embrace the villain role and he has the swagger to boost golf to a different level. Tiger had Phil and Ernie and Vijay. Now who will step up in those roles. Golf needs rivalries not one offs. Thanks for getting my point.... P.S. we now have golfers that actually look like athletes……….LOL!LOL!
