Yes, I have seen some of the Driver vs. Driver shows in the Golf Channel. I personally thought it was kind of cheesy. I think Wilson would be better off paying a few up-and-comer PGA tour players to play their equipment. With Gary Woodland's U.S. Open win all it might take is for another player (playing Wilson equipment) to get hot and stay hot (someone like a Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele) and things could take off in the right direction for them.

I think for the time being they should just focus on irons. Like don’t even make woods or putters. Just really nice irons. Like really culty. Like Mizuno MPs or Srixon. Rebuild their reputation. Then introduce super awesome woods down the road.

(And forget about wedges and putters. Worry about that much later)

I tend to agree with this for the most part but would take it a step further. I would definitely stop producing woods, its far to expensive R&D wise for little return when you have such a low market share. I would continue making irons, most of their offerings are already really solid. I would try and then poach a wedge & putter designer to come in and make wedge & putter designs for them. They already make _some_ quality products, I think people have just lost the "Wilson Staff = Quality golf equipment" over the past 30-40 years. Especially with them constantly using just the "Wilson" moniker & also selling big box sets of clubs at Walmart, etc.

The C300 hybrid is the best 'Adams style' hybrid since the Ping i25. I'm thinking about getting one or two.

PING G400 Max 10.5° (+)
PING G430 fairway 18° (F-), Alta CB S
PING G430 hybrid 22° (F-), Alta CB S
PING i530 5-U, DG Mid 115 S300
PING s159 54°-W (bent 52°), 58°-B, DG Mid 115 S300
PING Serene B60
Maxfli Tour Yellow

Going the route of getting the cult like following is going to take a long, hard-fought battle to get people to "buy in" so to speak. You hit the nail on the head with them branding the big box sets with the "Wilson" name with how some of that reputation was lost, as well. To get some really good wedges and putters, they might have to go the route of places like Titleist and Callaway and buy a company to get more traction. Vokey, Tulon, and Cameron didn't really do anything amazing or completely unique, but they are household names at those companies and raking in the cash.

Might be the way for them to go. They have two great irons in the Staffs and V6. Pay to get them in the bags of 8-10 tour pros and promote the heck out of them. Probably not going to happen though.

> Wilson made topnotch golf equipment (e.g. Staff irons) many decades ago. You rarely see any golf clubs' pro shop invest in anything with the Wilson name on it anymore because it just won't sell. You can't blame them. To regain anything close to what Wilson once was in golf equipment I think Wilson will have to spend a whole lot of money to get PGA tour pros to play their clubs and spend even more money on marketing. They'll also have to convince some topnotch R&D talent from their competition to come aboard and become a leader in new technology and design. It would be extremely costly with foresight of breaking-even a long shot.

Unfortunately due to their box sets at Walmart they have a reputation as a cheap brand. Same in baseball with the a2000 glove vs the a2k.

They are trying to change their image and dvd has failed in that imo. Then add in how they are eliminating the w/s logo and name and using more of the Wilson branding. Imo this doesn’t help break the reputation of being cheap.

I'm a bogey golfer...what do I care what the pro's use? Their game and mine are not in the same universe.

haha his job is far from in danger.... Wilson golf actually does a very good job and lives in the black at the end of the year.

Forever Changing at this point.......
