Earn enough money via sponsor exemption starts (allowed 7, can try MondayQ for other events) to finish inside top150 from previous year gets you special temp membership and unlimited exemptions for rest of year. Or earn enough to finish 125-200 gets him into Web Finals where he can also get a card. Probably hopes he can follow in Rahm, Niemann (also young PING star), Spieth, Cauley etc. by doing it in 7 or less...

He still needs to earn his card for next season, and there's not much time left this season to earn it. No different with Matthew Wolff signing with TaylorMade. Now, if both perform as they are capable, they should earn their cards. But there are no guarantees in golf or sports, and all it takes is one slump or an injury, and they would be in trouble. Signing some sponsorship contracts now gives them the security to just go out and play golf, and not worry about how the bills will be paid.

You would be surprised how many non-PING players get assistance from the tour van on site. If you have a PING club they'll help you. Class.

Couldn't believe it when I saw it. Would love to hear the story behind that decision. Here's his setup from their site, love how they've put him on the PGA Tour already ;) https://ping.com/pros/pga-tour/viktor-hovland

All I want in life is for the next series of G woods to be called 420. Would be such a tongue in cheek 'the times they are a changing' PING statement... :D One can dream.

I loved that driver. I had one rasta'd out with a Aldila NV green shaft and yellow grip. Might try to find a cheap Superfast TP ala Sneds to play around with again. Loved that shape.

Just guessing but maybe because i210 long irons launched too high for him, and iBlade gave him better numbers in the long irons. He had some sort of driving iron with a graphite shaft at Pebble (I don't think it was a hybrid) used it on #6, he can hit tee shots with irons and still poke it way out there.

If you want to be a great PGA Tour player, for the love of the golf gods stay out of Stillwater!

Seriously, I posted this in the Matthew Wolff thread. The best PGA Tour record by any of the greats to come out of Oklahoma State is Bob Tway with 8 wins and a PGA.

With the shorter/condensed schedule I'm going to assume it will be much tougher for these kids coming out of college to do a Rahm and make enough cuts to earn their PGA cards right out of the gate.

With that said I'm now a big fan of this young man. I really love his demeanor and attitude out there on the course. Most of these young kids look depressed/constipated despite the fact they are out there making big $ playing a game. This kid is a real breath of fresh air!
