US Kids UL54 7 club set or 5 club set?

My son is getting ready to turn 7 and he is in need of new clubs. He is a lefty and is taller for his age. Height is 54" and he weighs about 60 pounds. Fingertips to floor is about 14 inches. After reading all of the wonderful reviews here I have decided to go with the UL54 by USKids. My son has been golfing for recreation since he was 18 months old. Yes, we started with the plastic ones and that was all it took, he was in luv.

He has a heck of a swing. We currently just have a generic set we bought off of Amazon when he was 4 which have been fine for what he has been playing but they are way too small now. We have a golf camp coming up in July and I wanted him to have a new set prior. We are also going to look into lessons for him.

Now, I am green when it comes to golf. I can golf, but that is the extent of my knowledge. I have not had his swing speed tested or anything like that. I don't mind investing into something decent for an intermediate set. He is not a beginner but he is def not a pro. Should I go with a 7 piece club set or the 5 and add other clubs on or maybe it doesn't even matter?

Thanks so much!

Do you see golf as something he will stick with for a long time, and not passing by "try and see if he likes it" activity? It sounds like it is from what you wrote.

Have you looked into Tour Series? If he can swing half-way decent, it will be a much better (and ultimately less expensive) route.

If you're still leaning towards UL, then get as many pieces as possible in a set. I made the mistake of purchasing the minimum set and then wasted more money by adding clubs individually.
