Weird isn't it...I love the Spider X, I love flow necks, has the same insert as my copper X...but I couldn't hit water if I fell out of a boat. I just don't get it. I haven't even taken it off the practice green and stuck with the copper x.

That is weird. Any ideas or suspicions on what's so different? I'm rolling the Spider X so well that this very thing is what I'm afraid of if I got a MySpider X. Get it and hate it because its just different.

Pics in one of the threads show black insert = aluminum. White = same insert stock to Spider X (thicker 80/20).

I am going to give it another go on the putting green, and make a quick decision. It is 34.5" Tour red with white alignment in the middle, black T alignment and white face. Additionally, I put a brand new TaylorMade red cap grip on it.

Hate is too strong, but there is something about the full shaft offset that I don't get along with maybe? I suppose I had grand expectations, and it looks amazing, I just don't make anything with it versus the regular X :)

Understandable. I couldnt get along with the full shaft offset either on the previous Spiders so I know what you mean.

The black insert is DEFINITELY aluminum. I finally got to play with mine today and it was actually pretty good. Not terrible, just not as good as the Surlyn.

What was the biggest difference that you noticed? Is it just the feel being firmer?

Yea just a little firmer and slightly different sound. It’s not bad. Personal preference really. I would call the Surlyn option 1a and the aluminum option 1b.

Had my first 18 with my aluminum insert. Best I have putted all year. It's firmer for sure, but, our greens are 10 days away from hosting a Tour event, getting pretty quick, and I was able to control the speed just fine. I really like it, actually. I was putting like garbage with my Surlyn-inserted Jason Day Spider this year so I'm pretty happy with this new feel. Hopefully it lasts. New putters always seem to have a honeymoon phase...

Got my all black Spider X with no sight lines in today. I'm coming from the red spider with the T-sight line, and I really like the simplicity of this all black head.

Took off the Super Stroke and threw on a Winn grip, and also tossed a Sugar Skull headcover on. The black insert is the aluminum insert. I had to order the 6g weights as it came with the 3g weights, even though I ordered it at 33.5".

Can't wait to see how it goes on the greens.

I know that people with the aluminum insert say it is harder, so would that give it more a "milled" kind of feel or is it more tinny?

I think the regular Spider X lines up great, I just find that the stock insert is a little "hot" / "springy" to my feel (I've used old milled Pings and then Betti's for ages).

> Love the look and feel of my newly arrived Spider X. My biggest gripe is that although ordered at 32” length it came with 2g weights which is not what would’ve came with a stock Spider X of that length.

Are you sure about that? I've never seen anything other than 2g weights on all the retail Spider X putters I've looked at in stores. Even on the retail 33" Spider X, you're still getting 2g weights. TM doesn't vary the head weight of the putter by length.

Bit of an update on the My Spider X for me. From a feel perspective, the Spider X feels a lot like my gamer (Itsy Bitsy proto, aka Spider Tour), which is perfect. Very happy I went with the white insert and got lucky with the stock Spider X insert. However, I struggled making short putts at first because I noticed a higher rate of opening/closing than my IB and I couldn't get used to that. TaylorMade has certainly added more stability to the frame to deal with off-center strikes, but I think the weights being closer to the center of mass than the jet engines on the IB reduces the head's resistance to rotation during the stroke. The head also felt a little light to me with the stock 2g weights (I play 4g weights).

I ordered 6g weights, but those made the putter feel a little too heavy. Rather than drill 2g out of each weight to get down to 4g, I tried a 6g weight on the toe side and a 2g weight in the heel side. This added 8g to the head like I have on the IB, but it also added a little more weight toe side to hopefully change the feel and slow down the rate of closure. It seems to have worked. I was trying to replicate the exact feel of my Itsy Bitsy and the way I have the My Spider X configured now is very close.

It will be hard for anything to ever kick my Itsy Bitsys out of the bag permanently, but the My Spider X is now a great backup option for when the gamer is acting up and I need a slightly different look. The alignment channel on top to gives me a gentle reminder, but it's still plain enough to not affect my aim overall.

So funny....I have found the EXACT same thing coming from the Spider Tour. The short ones are a little less automatic and I have opened or closed the face a few times to miss some 3-4 footers. On the other hand, I think I lag it better. I'd never blame a putter for me missing a short putt, but, I too have noticed the open/close factor more similar to how a blade might.
