Not that ridiculous photo again. I’ll just quote myself from the last time that photo (P730, P750, and 0770 fitting heads, then P790 club, left to right) was posted:

Referring to the back, no cavity.

100% and remove the speedfoam in 7-pw

I have a feeling speedfoam (or whatever the new stuff will be called) will be in the entire set of the new offering.

New irons are pretty much the same just more compact. Not as long but claim still as forgiving. Very very clean looking. Release September.

Changes in short.

Shorter blade length. More compact

Taylormade writting replaced with T logo

Look like a different finish (not so shiney)

Other then that I had to look at new and old pic to compare the look so def no major changes

Great info. Did they keep the muscleback look in the back? Did they keep the P790 name?

So TM is going backwards by making a GI club with player’s club looks shorter in blade length? I doubt this is the case. They combo’d the 770 and 750 into the 760. Now they’re going to turn their best selling iron into a 780 or 770 which will reduce their appeal to the broad market the 790 serves so well. I really doubt this will be the route they take. In this segment millimeters matter!

Yep looks almost identical. Little bit tiddier with the logo not text and just a tad more compact hey.

This was never a GI club to TM. This is there forgiving players iron. Ping done this with the g400 to g410, they made the same iron but more compact and tidier. By keeping the forgiveness the same and having a smaller footprint this appeals to all it did previously and potentially more.

Loving the idea of a slightly shorter blade length. P780 has a nice ring to it, if that ends up being the name... Can you comment if the entire iron will be forged or just the face again?

This sounds like everything we have been asking for, hopefully less offset too. Speedfoam through the entire set?

Yeah I hope so too. Can’t wait to see some pics. Hopefully speedfoam only in long irons.

Why don’t you like speed foam through the set?

I don’t think TM will abandon the speed foam in this set unfortunately. I could be wrong but that’s the major marketing hype around the P790’s. Maybe fix it to where you do not get hot fliers anymore.

Exactly. If you don’t want the speed foam then get different irons.
