Is this shaft to flexi?

If our shaft is that flexed at that point, is it safe to say she is ready to move up from the Flynn kids flex?

My 11-year-old son just switched out from Flynn 57 to senior flex. His dispersion is much better now.

Looking at her size alone, she should have moved up from kids flex some time ago. My daughter just hit 60”, barely ticks 80 lbs, and for better or worse moved from Flynn to senior flex a year ago.

 

She looks very strong, stable. Lot of potential there. Work on getting those hips turned like Lyds.

ok, wow! She is 12 yrs old. 115 lbs. Strong (basketball player). 63 inches tall

The clubs are:

VT MAX Velocity 6 Iron for 63" player height

Shaft Material: Proprietary UST Mamiya graphite shafts

Grip Type: WINN Womens Dri-Tac

 

I'm considering some used Taylormade M2 irons. Was gonna get Womens flex. But maybe senior flex?

She swings 75-82 mph

She doesn't need junior clubs.

She has enough speed and strength to handle senior flex, but try out as many different clubs as you can.

When comparing clubs, mind the loft, not so much the number on the bottom.

I would definitely look into clubs with a senior flex and cut them down to fit her. Bunch of good options out there. Stick with the graphite shafts.

What looks to be the shaft flexing in the first picture is an illusion.

Do some reading on what's called the "Shutter Effect"...and how it relates to pictures of the golf swing.

As far as her equipment goes...have her hit several different setups at a big box retailer.

You'll be able to tell within a few swings of each whether they work or not.

Finally someone figured it out. But that should be "rolling shutter effect"

The difference is not the shaft but rather a much better camera was used to film Lydia. Likely one with a much higher frame rate.

 

Use ballflight, particularly consistency, and her feedback on how the shaft feels to her (not the video) to determine if a change in shaft stiffness might be warranted or not.

However...in this case...Stuart is spot on.

 

Using swing speed as a starting point is just that...a starting point. But...using swing speed as the end-game for shaft suggestions is off-base.

 

Too many other factors...such as (early/mid/late) release...and (smooth/aggressive) transition come into play that directly affect shaft performance.

 

As an example...put Modus 120s in my irons...and I'll spray the ball all over the yard b/c of my aggressive transition. However...put Modus 130s in my irons...and I'll be on point. Same swing speed...different bend profiles.

I agree with Stuart and you as well. I am saying "Wow" out of semantics. If I put "probably" in my original statement, Stuart probably doesn't respond. I guess I take for granted that some people need to be held by the hand and reminded that you should test and get fit.

 

Here.... I will rephrase.... From that chart, she should probably be in a Senior Flex. Hope that makes Stewey feel better.

If you had put in "probably" - the only thing that would have been different in my response would be that I wouldn't have needed the first sentence. It wouldn't have changed the actual worth of the chart - so the rest would have been unchanged.
