Montreal Golf

I'm heading up to Montreal in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to getting in a round of golf during my trip. I see that the both courses at the Montreal Island Club (lazy English translation?) will be open as of this weekend. Looking to see if anyone has a recommendation for golf on the island at the end of this month. Just looking through some websites, it looks like the Ireland Course at the club may be the best of the bunch.

We have a bad end of winter/early spring here (thaw/freeze cycle). Two of the courses I play were heavily damaged. I don't know if they can recover this year - gives you an idea how bad they were damaged. I know many other clubs also got badly damaged. As for 'club de golf island of Montreal' I don't know how they fared over the winter. If you want pics of the courses I played DM me as I'm not sure how to upload the pics on the forum. Nevertheless I hope you have a great time in our city, a great place to visit just hope the golf doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Hey......Montreal had a really rough winter. The best conditioned public course around is Saint Raphael golf club. It is technically not on the Island of Montreal but it close enough. Also not sure about Island of Montreal , however the newer courses with Bent Grass and new drainage systems held up better than the older courses. Like I said, I was in Montreal last week and was impressed with the conditions of the Saint Raphael golf club. It is right across the street from Royal Montreal btw.

How was the pace of play? I might be in Montreal this summer and would love to zip around the course on a weekday morning. Maybe get 36 in. Thx

The best public course near the Montreal area IMO is Quatre Domaines (https://www.golf4d.info/). It's just about 15-20 minutes north of the city and has 2 pretty good courses.

 

The Ireland course the OP mentioned (club de golf ile de montreal) is very nice too but it can be a bit of a pain to get there with traffic depending on where you are coming from. Montreal is perpetually under construction during the summer and getting through the city can be a real chore.

 

As others have said, ask the person what kind of shape the course is in before playing it. Some courses in Montreal had brutal winters and still have temporary greens or poor conditions. Quatre Domaines still is not charging full rate because of poor conditions.

 

If you play in July , you should be fine.

 

If you play a public course on a weekend here, expect a 4:30+ round at least. On a weekday it might be empty
