What is your shortest timed 18 hole round at Ala Wai?

How long and what time of day did you go?

I've played other courses on Oahu before but never Ala Wai because of the negative things I hear about the place. I may play there just to see if the negative comments I heard (conditioning, length of round, etc...) live up to their truth. I know it's a municipal course located right dab in the center of the city and is the busiest so I can manage my expectations.

I’ve played it in under 3 hours and have also played twilight and played holes 1 & 2 in one hour. The par 3 2nd had 5 groups on the tee!

The trick is playing and paying the 9 hole rate the hour before twilight starts. Cost more but once you get to the back, and pay the 2nd 9 rate for the back, it opens up a bit

Thanks for the tip! I may try that method. Typically, how easy is it to get a tee time first thing in the morning on a weekday as an out of state visitor and how long would that early tee time round take?

Sorry for delay, it’s darn impossible getting a morning tee time at a city/county run course. (There are several on Oahu run by the city). I wouldn’t waste much effort, the course just isn’t worth it. So many times are reserved under the table at ala wai its. ridiculous. Several years ago the starter would write in 5 tee times for every one phone call he took.

@nolayup Given what you just explained I may just not play Ala Wai and just stick with non city/county courses on the island. Thanks for the info.
