Last Concert you attended

My step daughter’s dad bought three tickets so he could take her and a friend to a concert. He couldn’t make it so I took them instead....so the last concert I saw was Selena Gomez. I found the highest most isolated seat I could find in Dallas’ American Airlines Center and waiter it out.

It was okay.

Wow. I didn't know he was still alive. He wrote some *seriously* racist songs. Did he perform any?

More than one, but all this year.

2/8/19 - James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt

2/22/19 - Fleetwood Mac

3/13/19 - Elton John

I hadn't seen any of them before, all were pretty great shows, especially for being old folks.

Firefly Festival in Delaware this past weekend.....tons of bands and the likes there.

Of the many we saw X ambassadors were very very good, and put on a great show. But my God, Im a huge Post Malone mark and Ive been trying to see him live for a few years now but he never really comes near us, but holy S was it sick and worth the wait. His set was ludicrous and amazing. All the feels lol.

My wife and I saw The Doobie Brothers/Santana the other night at The Pepsi Center in Denver. We wanted to see The Doobie Brothers foremost and they were outstanding and did not disappoint! I've never been a huge Santana fan. Yes, I know he's immensely talented and an exceptional guitar player, simply legendary. There's probably 2 or 3 songs of his I really love. That said, seeing Santana in concert was a truly remarkable experience. His musicianship, showmanship AND his band were truly amazing. He was humble and gracious to share the stage giving members of his band the limelight. He even brought on the Doobie Brothers to cover "She's Not There" by the Zombies. That was a terrific cover and again Santana was gracious crediting The Doobie Brothers as "... the magnanimous Doobie Brothers ... ." The energy of Santana and his band was immense and to think Santana is 71!!! Wow, what a great concert!!!

Next up is Billy Joel at Coors Field in August.

I saw DMB last year at Fiddler's Green in Greenwood Village, CO (Denver). They were excellent but there's something missing not having Boyd Tinsley in the line up. The electric fiddle just brings more than what an extra guitar does. My wife has seen them on a number of occasions, including the Red Rocks 1995 concert and she also said that. That said, DMB will plays excellent music!!!

Saw Cage the Elephant a couple of weeks ago in the Woodlands in Houston. We left before Beck headlined the show. Never was a beck fan. Cage the Elephant put on an interesting show. That guy is nuts.

I was planning to go to Knotfest when it stops in Houston in September (Bohemoth, Gojira, Vilbeat and Slipknot), but decided against it. I love Volbeat, slipknot and Gojira are ok, bohemoth ia t my scene. I can only imagine how wild that show will be, and I’m too old for that nonesense, lol.

I saw Cage the Elephant my only time back in 2011 when they opened for the Foo Fighters in Denver. Yeah, Matt Schultz is a rather interesting guy .... totally all over the place, nuts. Makes for an interesting group to watch. :D

I have a pretty interesting one coming up next week. Common (the hip-hop artist) is performing with the Houston Symphony as his accompaniment. Not completely sure what to expect, but it should be a unique experience.

How was the crowd watching the concert? I went to Fiddler's Green last year for one of the shows and a lot of people were rude, especially a group of ladies from Phoenix. They forced their way in front of us on the lawn and said nobody sits at a DMB concert. They never asked if they could stand in front of us in an area that was definitely small anyway. They were rude, as were a lot in the audience. Also, I am not a Tim Reynolds fan and the spark/magic of the band is missing not having Boyd there. While I understand why he's no longer a member of the DMB, his fiddle play and his interaction with Dave Matthews but there is definitely chemistry missing. On a positive note, Carter Beauford is simply an amazing drummer!!!

Went to England last weekend for a concert. A “not so famous yet” alternative band my step-daughter loves, Night Riots. Not exactly my style of music, but they’re not bad. They play mostly smaller House of Blues type venues. We’ve seen them in Houston, Dallas, Anaheim CA, San Diego (probably 8 shows between those venues). My wife and her have also been to San Francisco to see them as well. Over the years, we’ve gotten to know them. Last time they came through Houston, we got them a few rooms at the Hyatt downtown since their venue was nearby, then had lunch with them the next day before they set off to their next stop.

The show in England was the last show at the old venue they played at (The Borderline). It’s a small venue, as in House of Blues feels like the Astrodome by comparison. The venue has been around for a while but they had to shut it down due to rent increases. First time any of us have been across the pond. Wish we could have stayed more than 4 days, but work doesn’t wait.

It wasn't too bad, but the GA lawn situation is a poop show. It would be much nicer if the people actually chilled and used that as it's intended.
