I know right? It's like the Masters - year in, year out it always looks the same.

The Open Championship is the most fun major to watch no doubt. As an American I really wish the new US “normal” of screaming stupid s*** would stop. It’s golf not a Eagles game. BB

Never played them myself but the beauty of the course, the sea air, and the quality of the layouts are mind boggling. We have course here in America that can only give you a small taste of what its like. Most don't have the proper hard sandy ground or the ocean winds here.

Was just going to post that the R and A must have hired the same image firm as the Buckeyes. I hear they also did The international house of pancakes and The Internal Revenue Service. Amazing work.

Ha! Didn't even know who BK caddie was. Interesting story,

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/brooks-koepkas-caddies-portrush-roots-have-made-him-everyones-go-to-guy-in-advance-of-open-championship

"But as the 148th Open Championship nears, Elliott seems to be working for most of professional golf. Elliott is a native of Portrush, Northern Ireland. His parents’ house is about a quarter-mile from Royal Portrush, which is hosting the Open for the first time since 1951."

I suppose that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

BTW, nobody is putting a gun to your head to watch it.

There has been soooo much rain here throughout June and the last number of days. More rain is expected next week. They will have a job on their hands to keep the greens firm. It certainly will be nothing like the baked out Carnoustie Open Championship we had last year.

Tiger expected to practice on Tuesday, I intended to go Wednesday but will change it to Tuesday if the big cat is there that day.

Formby Golf club and Royal Birkdale. 2 links courses about 17 min drive from each other, and both are very different.

Just to be clear that pic on the right is from BELFAST, not Portush.

But yes, the Open and 'marching season' overlapping could be a thing, but would hope folks see sense.

Compared to the European Tour standard of not having any fans there to begin with? I fall asleep watching Euro Tour events.

Except 12 of those hours will be commercials. TGC coverage is downright unwatchable.

I have not played any of them, and they all look basically the same to me. I am far from ignorant, I just have a differing opinion. Thanks for the insult though.

The word ‘ignorant’ is not an insult ... it means you lack knowledge of a particular topic ... which you have admitted ...

I have watched enough opens to develop my opinion. I have played on some links "style" courses, I have never played across the pond so I will give you that I never played what could be called a proper links course. But to my eye, they all have similar enough features. Relatively flat, some sand dune'ish hills or mounds with tall grass or gorse, little to no tress, no water for the most part, front 9 going out, back 9 coming in. etc etc. History has shown that if the wind does not blow, tour guys shred these unprotected courses. Having not played one, does not make me ignorant of the design and style of them.

Rory shot 61 at port rush as a 16 year old. If you didnt already know that.

That's like saying all parkland courses are the same, because they are green and there are trees.
