Beatriz is a lovely person and a talented player but she has been injured as of late. However, I think a lot of her issues aren't related to her physical health. I think a lot of it has to do with her emotional health and the people she chose to keep around her. Rather cryptic I know.

> I'm curious to hear opinions on this; Would it be a good idea and fair to the field if a few male celebrity golfers were invited to participate in the DowGLI? Say Steph Curry and Andre Iguodala and some of the guys that played in the Diamond Resorts? Two or three teams max.

My gut reaction is no. One, for the fans I think the event is interesting enough as is. There are some good teams, and the participation is higher than I would have thought given the tournament's spot in the schedule. Second, I think this would be somewhat of a band-aid solution. Maybe it attracts a few more people but it doesn't solve the fundamental issue of how to get people that aren't interested to attend longer term.

I didn't watch the Diamond Resorts tourney at all. Partly because the field was so limited and partly because it seems like a circus act. I don't really like the Pebble Beach Pro-Am for some of the same reasons unless a player I really like has a chance to win.

Although maybe this is like a comment in one of the other threads - the opinion is coming from someone that is already "too much of a fan" (don't need more of them).

Logistically, this probably makes more sense with a week off before the Tour Championship. And for the non-Asian players 5 weeks in a row is probably too much anyways (I'd say 4 is a stretch).

There used to be 6 Beijing/Shanghai, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Blue Bay. Malaysia got the axe because of the change in government and Blue Bay disappeared a couple of weeks ago from the TBA spot in the schedule. There could have been 5 but the LPGA went behind KEB/Hana Bank's back and set up the event in Busan with BMW. Apparently KEB/Hana Bank didn't appreciate they weren't told there was going to be another LPGA event in Korea and withdrew their sponsorship. A lot of people theorize the LPGA could just move all their events to asia but the LPGA certainly has difficulty keeping events there.

I think 2016 was the last year there were six events. One Chinese event was lost in 2017 (ended up being 5) and last year was 5 after Malaysia dropped out. This year, there is now only 1 Chinese event vs 2 last year (Blue Bay cut as you mentioned), so down to 4.

Today's winner of the "Well, Duh" award goes to The New York Times’ Karen Crouse ([https://nytimes.com/2019/06/24/sports/golf/lpga-stars-tv-coverage.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/24/sports/golf/lpga-stars-tv-coverage.html "https://nytimes.com/2019/06/24/sports/golf/lpga-stars-tv-coverage.html")):

“…They (the LPGA) are helping to deliver a product that perhaps has never been more appealing: The past 11 majors have produced 11 different winners, the last four all younger than 24. And yet the L.P.G.A. continues to struggle for exposure. The tour’s primary television platform for the past decade has been Golf Channel, whose coverage the first two days of the Women’s P.G.A. consisted of three hours from 6 to 9 p.m., Eastern Time. On Friday that window precluded a single live shot of Green, who had finished her round well before the day’s telecast.”

Ummm, the 1st round of the **PGA Championship** was aired on TNT from 1:00 pm until 7:30 pm. There wasn't a single live shot of the morning wave there, either, which included eventual winner Brooks Koepka. It's not completely unknown for tournaments to start coverage in the afternoon on Thursday and Friday, and show highlights from the morning groups. Oy.

Try not to read the comments on the article, or at least if you're eating and don't want to lose your lunch. "Too many Asian winners". Let's see, Hannah, Lexi, Brooke, and Bronte have won four of the last five tournaments.

Wouldn't controversial Omar Uresti be more of a club pro than her? And many say that Omar playing in the men's PGA don't pass the smell test. Outside looking in observation would seem to indicate that her lifestyle since she had the years of high earnings on the Lpga has outrun how long those earnings have lasted. Like many others at that level maybe she thought competitiveness at the highest level could be turned off and on anytime she needed a transfusion of money to maintain the princess lifestyle, When she realized she wasn't getting any younger and that the Lpga career was probably not going to be revitalized she had to try to get a real job. I hope she makes it as a teaching pro but hoping she has to work her a** off for about 25 years doing it.I wonder why she didn't go the karate teaching route?

Lydia signed another endorsement:

Lululemon ABC pants for men are some of the best pants to golf in. Stretchy, extra room in the crotch. Their polos are also really nice as well for men, look less knit and slightly more of a button down and sleek. Big fan of their stuff.

Bo Mee Lee of JLPGA shot a first round of 82 today. Bo Mee dominated JLPGA from 2013 to 2016.

Both Bo Mee and Lydia did the right thing; they won a bunch when they're hot.

With the exception of Tiger and Annika; golf is transitory. Lydia of LPGA, In Gee Chun of KLPGA or Bo Mee Lee of JLPGA didn't stay on top for too long.

This is a huge get and good for Lydia for signing with them. They're obviously not known as a golf brand but at some of the higher end gyms in my area this is the brand you want to wear if you're "someone." They're very much known as one of the companies that helped make athletic wear ok for everyday, casual use.

Yealimi Noh is one of 14 entries for Thornberry Creek Monday Qualifier; this is her best chance to play LPGA since her sponsor invites to both CP Women's Open and KEB Hana Bank last year.

Edit: Yealimi shot -5 and appeared to have qualified.

As expected, Sung Hyun moved to #1 in the World. Inbee moved up four spots to #5. Hyo Joo had a big move this week, moving 7 spots up to #20. Gaby moved into the top 50.

I dunno. She has to outplay a lot of talented players, including Inbee, 6ix, So Yeon, Sei Young, Eun Hee, and Amy, Jiyai. That's a tough ask. I think Jin Young and Sung Hyun are pretty much locks at this point.

I hope not, the course was interesting and the location historic. The fact the sponsor yad a focus on Women in the Tehnology field gave it an added dimension. If true, I wonder what it was? Indianapolis doesn't strike my as a golf town, for a tournament with a larger purse it seemed many at the top skipped this event and crowds seemed sparse. I feel that in some ways this and Oneida were/are missed opportuniies for the LPGA. I remember when Oneida was announced, the representative from the Oneida nation said they were excited about attracting a top field since it was one of the higher purse events. I don't think Oneida has ever attracted a top tier field despite the purse size. Maybe it's the course?

Certainly events like Phoenix and Kingsmill attract better fields with smaller purses.

I think it boils down to the schedule. With a long stretch without a week off, and then back to back majors, something has to give.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the low scoring keeps away some of the top talent. There are grinders that simply don't like birdiefests. Danielle has been rather vocal about liking tough courses.

A good article about DOW next week:

"Players skipping the Dow include World No. 1 Sung Hyun Park, Inbee Park, So Yeon Ryu, Jeongeun Lee6, Sei Young Kim, Hannah Green, Shanshan Feng and several top-ranked European Solheim Cup players in Carlota Ciganda, Charley Hull, Georgia Hall, Azahara Munoz and Caroline Masson.

Every American ranked in the top 100 is in the field, with the exception of a few players out with injuries (Michelle Wie, Mo Martin) or on maternity leave (Brittany Lincicome)."

"The money and Race to the CME Globe points will be official. But no points will be allotted toward the Rolex Rankings, Solheim, Rolex Player of the Year or Rookie of the Year standings."
