Long Island Trip: Where to stay

We are on tour during September 2019, it's good to have a mate who is connected so we will be playing a few courses near Cold Spring Pond.

 

Last time we stayed at Easthampton, we use Airbnb or the US versions that preceded it VBRO to rent a house as there will be 6 of us.

 

Happy to go back there however would equally be happy to take a recommendation if someone thinks there is a better town/village to stay in.

 

Requirements are reasonably simple, course travel 20-30 mins max, we'd like restaurants but not high end and a few pubs. Like home, anything with a beach vibe and wanker free (apart from ourselves) would be ideal.

The best time of the year in eastern long island is september and october. While there are "wankers" there, if you are staying during the week it will be perfect. The only problem i can see is the travel time. you will be closer to the 30min drive to get to the three course near the pond. Maybe try staying in the village of Southampton?

First post after lurking as a guest for a while. I agree it's the best time of year on Long Island. And the Wankers are usually back in Jersey by then ;)

 

I would say Southampton or Sag Harbor. Sag is a little further but it's a great spot on the water with good restaurants and a few great watering holes.

Second for Sag. Plus you can just shoot down Noyack Rd and avoid Montauk Hwy. Hit me up if you find yourself needing a 4th

All, have the Southampton house locked in, we are a couple of miles west of the town, near the courses. Looks like after we leave the house we will head to Deepdale, following day will be Garden City (hopefully).

Rather than driving into the city on Friday night, could anyone recommend somewhere out near Great Neck to stay, usual stuff, old blokes needing a pub/bar and somewhere half decent to eat.
