Raw face has been done before. It escapes me by who though. I want to say a Japanese maker. It will pop into my head if I wait long enough. Lol

Gorgeous from the address position, perfect shape. Face is interesting, like the idea. The cosmetics from the back are strange, my eye keeps trying to resolve the shapes with the satin/chrome transition and gets caught in a loop.

Look at address is perfect

Not sure about the raw face though, people either like raw or dont, so mixing the two just doesn't make sense to me

Honestly while unflattering design wise, I'm more upset they put that stupid etching on the face like Callaway. I could care less about the back of the club. The raw face is cool, but I'll be sticking to Vokey wedges until they mess those up.

I love the look of a raw club, but this is TM marketing at its best. The head is chrome, but the face is raw?? Most know (or should) that a raw finish will 1. wear faster, and 2. Reduce spin correct??? The benefit of raw is that it reduces glare and looks cool. That's about it.

Rust creates more friction and therefore spin.

Ā

Incorrect.. rust reduces surface area which reduces spin. Think racing tires vs street tires. Rust also is like having sand on the face. Like I said, I love to look of patina. I just understand that it is not a performance enhancement.

Ā

Not that dumbfounding. People say they want raw wedges, but raw wedges end up sitting on store racks after they begin rusting because the average golfer has no clue about why they'd want to buy a raw wedge. All they know is that it doesn't look new, so they don't buy it. Raw face presumably gives the benefit of a raw wedge with better shelf appeal.

Ā

I'm sure TaylorMade will get blasted for these, but it seems like a legitimate attempt to give people mostly what they want while trying to solve problems with selling raw wedges in the past. I'd much rather have them do this than sell another shiny chrome wedge like the original Milled Grind lineup. Great wedges, but so much glare that it was nearly unplayable on sunny days. (Of course, the Milled Grind raw wedges were absolutely perfect...)

Ā

It gets easy for tribal knowledge to get passed on. Even if it is not 100% accurate. I completely agree on look and feel. No argument there. two of my RTX4 wedges are raw. the 48 and 53. Then I go black in the 58 and 64 because I want to retain as much spin as possible.
