I saw Stratton was playing with Edel irons at the US Open qualifier....was he playing those for a while?

Yes. Edel is here in ATX and he was fitted there year before last and has a set of their irons, a couple of his putters and wedge sets. He put them in the bag early this spring to give them a try again.

Need to get some good shots of his set now. He wanted the Pac-Man theme on his wedges and I have been waiting on a larger circle stamp. His Hoofer Lite Tour bag is one PING should sell on the open market as I think they would sell a ton of them. Has the classic white bag with all PING in black.

Happy holidays! Wondering what Stratton has been up to, how are the clubs treating him?

This feels like the correct topic to post this in as it’s a look at who I came to know Breck as, a doting and devoted father. I was devastated to log on to Facebook this morning and see that Breck (Deerslayer) has sadly been taken from us so soon. He’s one of the first people on this site that I interacted with on a regular basis and became friends with and followed outside of here. Breck lived his life doing what he enjoyed, his passion for his family and the outdoors shining through. I know Stratton gets on occasionally on this account of his from time to time and I wanted to leave him a note here he could read, as this is where his dad and I met originally. 
 

Stratton, your dad was as good a guy as you’d ever meet. His passion for raising his family in a godly image shone through in everything he ever said publicly. I don’t know what has taken him from us so soon, but I know he’s shown nothing but adoration for you and your family in this venue as well as all of his other online presences and in conversations I’d had with a man I never met in person to shake his hand. Never one to meet a stranger nor to offer anything but advice, a kind word, or encouragement, he’s a shining example of what being a man was all about. I pray you and the family and all of his loved ones truly find peace and comfort through what I know are very dark times as I’ve dealt with this in the past myself. Nothing I could say would possibly take the pain away, but know that there’s a community that knew your dad and cared that are praying for you and all of the rest of your family and all of the friends lives he touched. If you guys ever need anything, you can reach out either through here or to me directly on social media as I’m on his friends list there as well.
 

Godspeed Breck, we’ll see you on the other side.

While the temporary separation from the Godly man your father has been will be tough, I pray that you receive a measure of comfort in knowing that his kindness and humility influenced more people than you know. He was rightfully proud of the man you have become and if there is anything I can do for you or the family, do not hesitate to reach out.

Saw Stratton's post on Instagram today about his father's passing and I immediately thought of this site. I followed Stratton's career from the time he was 12 years old through this site. His dad always seemed like one of the boys, just willing to help out and shoot the breeze. Feel weird to think back on how long that's been now. Prayer's for Stratton and his family!

Just came here to post about Breck’s passing. This thread was one of my favorites when I first picked up the game. Breck was kind enough to share some PMs with this newbie. I got choked up reading Stratton’s post. RIP, @Deerslayer

I am honestly at a loss for words reading about Breck's passing. I have been on Golfwrx for a good number of years and Breck was one a the few people on here that I would call a friend.  I had the privilege of meeting both Breck and Stratton at the  U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at Sand Creek Station.  Even though we had only talked online he greeted me like a friend of many years.  This was just the kind of man Breck was.  Stratton I am so sorry for you and your family's loss.  You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Stratton,  I saw you and Will Zalatoris battle for the State Am in Dallas one year. I just mentioned something to Breck while he was sitting on a tee box bench waiting for you to tee off. He turned to me and just casually filled me in on your strategy for the round, like I was his best bud. Made me feel 10 feet tall.

Heartbreaking to read this, Breck was one of the truly good guys on here.  He truly put his heart and soul into his family, Stratton, and Stratton's golf equipment.  It was really fun watching Stratton progress on here.. now having a son of my own, I hope to be the type of person/dad that Breck clearly was to his kids.

 

Stratton if you ever stumble upon this thread - just know that there is never a good time to lose a parent, your dad was, is, and will continue to be your biggest fan.  Keep pushing and continue to make him proud.  Positive thoughts and prayers to you and your family. 🙏

He was an OG.  This is the 2nd passing of somebody I've met on wrx and talked to regularly! (RIP JW)  His pride for his son was amazing.

Wow, shocked to come across the terrible news of Breck's passing. I followed his club customizing threads and loved the content he created, but it was his passion for his family that spilled over into every one of his posts. The good ones are always taken too soon, so sorry to hear.

Rest easy Breck.... You helped a complete stranger find an apartment for his niece in your hometown and looked out for her best interest. I will never forget that. 

 

This is one of the best pieces of golf advise I ever received which was shared from Breck on this forum. I hope that posting Stratton's putting practice routine can help others that may come across this thread. 

 

Putting: Ladder drill
1. Start at 3 feet, make 15 in a row.
2. Back up to 6 feet. Make 12 of 15.
3. Back up to 9feet. Make 10 of 15.
4. Back up to 20 feet. Putt 10 balls. Each ball should finish inside a 2 foot radius. Try to make at least one.
**If at any step you fail to reach the goal, you must start over at 3 feet.

Stratton, Just saw this and I am truly sorry about your dad. I am praying and thinking of you and your family. I cant even think about what your going through. I could not imagine losing my dad. But you will get through this because he is not really gone. He lives in you and your love of golf. Every time think of him or go play a round he is with you. If you need anything just a PM away.

Absolutely stunned and saddened to see this. Breck was such a kind human being.  On top of that he was very talented and I was lucky enough to have him refinish a couple of putters years ago.  My deepest condolences to Stratton and the entire family.  We truly lost a good one.
