trimming brand new iron shafts question.

hey guys, need some help.

i ordered a set of 5-PW shafts from ebay for a friend of mine that wanted to change his shafts (he's older.. never bought anything from ebay lol). But based on the manufacturer labels, they sent me 4i, 5i, 6i, 7i, and two 8i iron shafts. Are we supposed to just trim them to length ? are these shafts essentially all the same ? and we just have to butt trim them ?? If so, why have different UPC numbers ? And as you can see, theyre labelled for specific irons too.

 

Im assuming they had sent me the wrong ones ??

If they are taper tip .355 shafts they are butt trim only and the shaft is intended to go in the iron specified. They are not all the same shaft. You will notice if you lay them all down beside each other the first step closest to the tip will start in different places on each shaft. Installing these in a set as is will be soft stepping them and make them play slightly less stiff than the stated flex.

Contact the seller to get the problem fixed.

They can be installed as soft stepped once if they cant be changed, so depending on if the player ever hit this shafts strait in or not, it might not be as bad as it looks like.

im not going to bother doing that although it was an option ithought to myself when i originally opened the box. He's already mad he has to swing a regular shaft. Telling him we can softstep it would probably give him suicidal thoughts lol. If the shaft labels werent there, i guarantee he wouldnt be able to tell. I've swung the dg105 in reg myself a few times and i loved it. it wasnt soft/whippy at all. its agreat shaft. im thinking real hard of getting a set myself.

and for future reference and a follow up question,,..

 

every shaft is to be butt trimmed to desired length only correct ?? (i mean you can tip trim off course, but thats a different topic)

Shafts thats delivered in discrete lengths like this is butt cut only, and thats goes for both Parallels and Tapers

You should be able to SEE that butt side is equal on all, while the tip section is 0.5 longer for each iron longer
