Yellow balls

My grandfather played golf until he was 89. He loved yellow "glow in the dark" golfballs when they came out because he could see them easier than white ones. He was colorblind too, so always had troubles with white golf balls. He spray painted white golf balls gold, because he could see that color better, he only used the gold balls to putt.

I pretty much only play with yellow now. There are few times a day when they get hard to see because of light conditions. Typically more so in the early morning. There is something super satisfying about watching it fly through the air.

I like yellow balls for the visibility especially in lower light. Real easy to see.

I have only used the Srixon Z-Star XV yellow balls in depth. My take is that the yellow Srixon Z-Star XV versions are different than the white versions. They seem to have a harder cover that spins different. Feel is different as well. While the Srixon Z-Star XV yellow are not bad balls, I like the white versions of much better and think they have better feel. I haven't tried any other brands of yellow balls like the newer Titleist ProV1 yellow, so I don't know how good or different they are.

I was like whatever I’ll try anything. To my chagrin that rock hard distance ball flew off the face with a nice long draw. Then a well hit 5 wood and I’m putting for eagle. Now I’m wondering if God is telling me to game a yellow distance ball?!?!

Had a chuckle thinking about the people here that claim soft balls don't fly far for 100+ mph swings like mine.

That's funny. One of my Sunday golf buds found one last week and put it in play. Turned his round for the better straight off. Look like a ufo in the sky, but he sure hit it well.

The SuperSoft (I also found a red one and played it for about nine holes) does seem to really go high and long. Doesn't spin at all when it hits the green but the fact iron shots are dropping in from low earth orbit helps it stay on the green usually. About as high trajectory ball off irons and wedges as I can recall ever seeing.

I prefer the white golf balls but use the optic yellow in fall and spring when it's hard to see the ball. The yellow balls are much easier to find especially the optic yellow like the Snell, Srixon and Titliest are but stay away from the matte finish balls. The matte finish balls get dirty very quickly and then you can't find them even on the fairway.

They became a little more pure yellow a couple of years ago, and I preferred the original colour.

Anyways, I tried a sleeve of yellow z-stars when they first came out, and have stuck with them ever since. As others have mentioned, it generally makes it way easier to see which ball is yours as there still aren't too many people playing them.

Only "bad" experience was my very first swing. Playing a low-end course, pushed my drive a little right and into the rough. When I got up to the ball it turned out to be in a fairly large patch of 100 or so dandelions in bloom. 201 bright yellow one-inch circles on the green grass, and one of them was my ball.....

I liked the original color as well. But it has not strayed too far. Others have gone to a flo green and call it yellow. I'm not a fan of those.

And I'm entitled to evaluate the opinion that's how it works. It's clear it was aimed at the post not the individual.

Yes, much harder to clean the matte finish and they don't reflect light as well which makes them more difficult to see/find.

I play yellow, not because of preference, but because I got Chrome Soft X’s in yellow at prices Callaway would cry over if they knew.

I have no qualms with the yellow ball. I just prefer the white ball. I’d be playing TP5x in white if I wasn’t so cheap (less than $2 a ball vs $5 a ball).

I love playing with a yellow ball, but I found the ones on the market did not have the performance of the Prov1x. I was extremely pleased Titleist finally offered the ProV line in yellow.

What cracks me up is if you are playing a white ball, people will ask what ball it is, brand, etc., but play a yellow, "you like those yellow balls?" like there is only one kind.

Yellow Z Stars are the best. I've used them off and on for years now.

My buddy used to trash me for using yellow balls, then he tried them and now won't use anything else ... so much so that I've been using white to tell them apart from the fairway.

I should've loaded up on yellow XVs when Srixon had their 2-for-1 sale a few weeks ago. Hoping they run that one more time this year...

Long time Srixon XV yellow user. I just bought 4 dozen yellow pro v and prov1X from lost golf balls. Man they are sweet, pretty much brand new and no player marks :) Best thing about playing the yellow you don't have annouce what ball you are playing and you don't have to have a special mark.

I only put my Yellow away when the leaves fall from the tree's because that is the only time, it's easier to find a white one.
