Best Approach for Getting Rid of Older/Unused Clubs

I've never bought anything new so getting rid of these clubs wouldn't be a significant loss. With that said, Rock Bottom Golf offers pretty good value if you choose to trade it in for store credit vs cash. Seems to offer the best combination of being able to get rid of clubs quickly and still get a little more than the PGA value. Thanks to whoever suggested that.

One reason I go to Global Golf, they often offer percent bonus on trades and when applying the store credit, if shopping for used clubs they have way more inventory of preowned than Rock Bottom.

I've been selling some of my old clubs on ebay for the last couple of weeks. It really isn't all that time-consuming, and I've been getting some decent money out of stuff. Sure. I've had to sell some component iron sets for next to nothing, but if someone can use them, I'm more than happy about that. Plus, it gets the stuff out of my basement. I've bought WAY too many clubs over the last few years, so I'm glad to see this stuff go. I'm putting the money into a savings account to help buy my next vehicle (which I hopefully won't need for at least a couple more years, fingers crossed). I plan on still having four complete sets when all is said and done, but this is WRX after all, so that's pretty normal, lol.

I think Ebay is definitely worth it. I recently sold two older Ping sets for significantly more than I could get on trade. They were stiff steel, and I now need regular graphite. Do an advanced search on Ebay, searching for completed sales of the product you want to sell. I went several months back and found the prices of the same sets** that actually sold**, divided by the number of irons in the set, and calculated the average price per iron of sets that sold. I multiplied that by the number of irons in my set, and listed the set as a "Buy it now," at that price plus an allowance for shipping. Sold both sets in 24 hrs. for twice, or more, what I was offered in trade from major on-line sources for trade-ins. The biggest hassle is packing them up. I've used some on-line sales resources at times, and had good experiences, but Ebay is definitely worthwhile if you price things fairly, and you took good care of them. The other thing I will tell you, kind of unrelated, I bought a used set of Ping G15 with regular graphite shafts, because I really like the G15s. But the great thing about Ping is that you can buy replacement irons that match what you have, same serial numbers. I've done this with two sets, i.e., bought AW wedge, 3 iron, etc. to match used sets I bought on Ebay. I don't know if you can do that with other mfr. sets.

I'm planning a big purge this fall also. My problem is that I know a lot of my clubs will have non-stock specs, and it's not worth the time/effort for me to research the stock specs for every club, then measure & swingweight mine and make notes of shaft, grip, layers of tape, etc.

So for iron sets and anything with adjustable shafts, I'm going to remove the shafts and sell them head-only (easy with flat rate shipping envelopes). High value putters (Scotty's, etc) I'll measure and sell/trade individually. For most of the hybrids/fairways/wedges, I'll probably try to move them in bulk either by trading them in locally or sending them in to Global Golf as a trade in for GolfNow credit.

I've sold a few on ebay, but I'm with the rest of the crew here, I need to get the proper motivation then list like 10 things at a time, so I make fewer trips to UPS, answer questions in buckets, etc. I've also tried to find my local first tee to donate stuff, no luck there yet.
